    TLDR

Pseudonymous poster @bayeslord, identified in the post as one of four anonymous co-founders of the effective accelerationism movement, wrote that creating a new species is unnecessary. The tweet states computers can be built to solve problems and that current systems already resemble life more than not. The author explicitly withholds any judgment on whether such outcomes are desirable or probable. The post appears as a standalone remark among visible replies on X.

@bayeslordNot a judgement on whether it’s a good idea or not, or even whether it’s likely to happen or not, but we don’t actually have to create a new species. We can just make computers that solve problems. It is possible in principle. What we have today is in fact more like life, and on the current course we’re probably going to get something lifelike, but it doesn’t have to go that way. The people who say it’s inevitable, that it’s definitely what we’re doing, are following a script and looking too narrowly at what’s done today. There are other frames and other means. Extreme lack of imagination and memetic contagion at work here imo.
