    TLDR

Raphaël Millière, Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Oxford with ties to Jesus College and the Institute for Ethics in AI, posted a thread on X. He observes that Dwarkesh Patel's piece on the recent OpenAI/Huggingface incident has renewed debates over the risks of anthropomorphism and the validity of intentional descriptions of AI agent actions. Millière states he will present a philosophical perspective on these issues across the thread. The post appears as a direct reply to the conversation started by Patel's writing and frames the discussion in terms of ongoing philosophical questions about how to interpret AI behavior.

@raphaelmilliereI see @dwarkesh_sp's piece about the recent OpenAI/Huggingface incident reignited endless debates about the dangers of anthropomorphism and the legitimacy of intentional glosses of AI agent behavior, so here's a philosophical perspective on this. 1/22
@timnitGebruIf so much money weren't getting thrown at this garbage and these people didn't have the loudest mics and the whole world wasn't taking these people seriously and our planet wasn't getting wiped out, it would have been pure comedy seeing this ridiculous discourse.
@tallinzenThis is basically how I think about this issue too. Thanks @raphaelmilliere for the great thread!
