a16z Highlights Stripe Data on AI Software Growth
a16z posts highlight Will Gaybrick comments on Stripe data and AI tools.
TLDR
a16z shared multiple posts quoting Stripe President of Technology Will Gaybrick on AI and coding. Gaybrick stated company data shows software creation accelerating rather than facing severe commoditization. Posts reference a discussion with David George covering agentic coding compared to 1940s plastic injection molding and a build everything mindset. Jeff Weinstein highlighted a 60 minute segment on Stripe building with AI. Rohan Paul noted Gaybrick describing a version of Jevons paradox where engineer output rises yet software backlog grows. The posts present these as observations from the conversation.

David George@DavidGeorge83Stripe’s strategy is to “win all the startups and then win them again.” I had a great time talking with @gaybrick. Will has held a broad seat at @stripe for more than a decade, joining as CFO in 2015, and today leading Technology and Business. This makes him the right person to…

A1 a16z@a16zA common thesis is software gets severely commoditized from here on out. Stripe's Will Gaybrick says their data shows the opposite: "It's plausible. We're either in the singularity or creeping towards the singularity, and it's very hard to estimate what a future looks like…

WG Will Gaybrick@gaybrickI sat down with @davidgeorge83 @a16z to talk about all things Stripe and agentic coding as plastic injection molding in the 1940s. You'll have to let me know if the analogy works. We went into: - Taking a "build everything" mindset to meet this moment of immense human…

JW Jeff Weinstein@jeff_weinstein60 minutes re: how @stripe is building for, and with, AI. (Even though I work pretty deeply on this stuff, I always learn something from hearing @gaybrick explain it clearly.) https://twitter.com/a16z/status/2089387888685588717

RP Rohan Paul@rohanpaul_aiStripe is seeing a version of Jevons paradox: engineers can build far more in less time, yet the backlog of software worth building appears to be growing with them. Will Gaybrick, President of Product & Business at Stripe, discusses how AI is changing the way Stripe builds…
