Mathematics will fall first. Then, a torrent of results will impact everything in theoretical science.
AI researcher François Fleuret stated that mathematics will be the first domain disrupted by rapid AI progress, with effects extending to theoretical sciences through an accelerating wave of automated discoveries
Chris Paxton responded that lab automation must advance substantially first.
Positive users endorse claims that AI will transform mathematics first because predictions seem accurate so far and could extend to physics, while negative users dismiss them as overblown or ridiculous for actual frontier research.

This will only happen if lab automation takes off. like, really takes off. the data is still missing; the math and coding magic happens because of RL
Mathematics will fall first. Then, a torrent of results will impact everything in theoretical science.

@AndrewCurran_ the amount of folks that might want to go back to that post and delete their reaction back then 💅

@AndrewCurran_ Whats the big deal? yall are talking like Gpt solved some millennium problem.

@AndrewCurran_ GPT 5.6 moment

@AndrewCurran_ Warp drive! I was promised warp drive!!

@AndrewCurran_ Great find. So true

@AndrewCurran_ slowly, then quickly

@AndrewCurran_ Not quite

@80sGeek @AndrewCurran_ I hope they prioritize physics (see below) more than other applied fields, for the same reason they prioritized math.

@AndrewCurran_ acceptance
man must see what is coming
man must participate in the process and BECOME

@AndrewCurran_ Wait, I'm confused, so software engineer didn't fall yet?

@AndrewCurran_ irrelevant but i have to ask, what does your surname mean in exact words (no transliterating), it has a strange sound if i'm not mispronouncing it

@AndrewCurran_ @deepfates why do we pivot to

@AndrewCurran_

@AndrewCurran_ Seeming pretty accurate so far

@AndrewCurran_ amen

@AndrewCurran_ If you do any math research at the frontier you would know this is ridiculous.

@AndrewCurran_ it’s going to get bendy weird

@JohnThilen @AndrewCurran_ They are just starting to get into world models and i think that's just simulated physics. But i mean physics can be expressed as differential equations at least that's how i made it thru college, lol.
I suck at physics but my grades say different :)
