TSMC reportedly greenlit Cerebras’ oversized chip project in 2017

A Cerebras team member says TSMC greenlit the company’s chip project during a 2017 meeting. Cerebras had 30 employees and no product or revenue at the time, and was proposing a chip the team member describes as 55 times larger than anything made before. They credit TSMC’s willingness to work with a small company for the partnership that followed.
