Timnit Gebru’s Deep Unlearning is available for preorder

Timnit Gebru announced preorders for Deep Unlearning on August 13. While reading proofs on September 16, she shared words she said she wrote in 2015: her concern about AI’s future was not rogue machines taking over, but the “homogeneous, one-dimensional group of men” advancing the technology. Gebru said the press was describing OpenAI as an “altruistic company” at the time, and that she has been repeating the same concern ever since.
