    TLDR

Jiaxin Pei, Assistant Professor at UT Austin and research fellow at Stanford HAI, posted that the university is partnering with OpenAI to start an AI Startup Class. The course, listed as INF 385T Building Large Language Model Applications, runs 15 weeks and seeks to combine top computing, engineering, and business students with resources to produce YC-ready AI products. Pei described the effort as experimental and built on the hypothesis that mixing those student groups yields strong results. The post included a promotional graphic for the class.

@jiaxin_peiPartnering with @OpenAI, we are very excited to kick off the AI Startup Class @UTAustin that helps students build "YC-ready" AI products in 15 weeks. This experimental class is built on one hypothesis: if you put the best computing, engineering, and business students together and give them enough resources and the right instruction, they can achieve amazing things in one semester. We received nearly 200 super strong applications from almost every school at UT Austin, and we selected 45 to be part of this class. They span CS, ECE, information, business, design, etc. Many of them have already worked at a startup, developed a business, or have been doing research for years. Through our partnership with OpenAI, every student is getting Codex 20x and additional API credits to develop their own LLM applications. Beyond that, student teams get co-working space at the Texas Innovation Center and the Antler office. We are also organizing bi-weekly networking events to connect students with founders and investors in Austin. We're grateful for the generous support of @OpenAI , @Hydra_DB, @AntlerGlobal, and Standard VC, along with UT Austin's Enterprise Technology, AI Studio, and @TexasInnoCenter. If you'd like to support the class, speak to the students, mentor a team, or if there is anything you would like to collaborate on, please reach out! Link to the class webpage is in the comments. Appreciate the help and support from my friends and partners: Weston Waldo, Ian Howard, Sam Combs, Tiffany Testo Gowdy, Hasun Khan, Melissa Lichota, Prerna Sharma, Akhil Aneel, @alokvasudev, @contextkingceo, Ananya Pande, @PeterStone_TX, Betsy G., @mercebent, @veelarco, Ara Kyi, Rebecca Li, @nclando, LU(Rachel) LU, @xingyaow_, Cai Chen, Kolento Hou, @sharonal_lee, @alexshander03, @yugu_nlp, @jamescham, @whoisnnamdi, Atlas Wang, Daisy Zhao, @charliepinto
