claude code mobile is cool but like the way sessions are labeled and not having any search functionality makes it entirely unusable

Venture capitalist Nathan Benaich highlighted practical friction in the Claude Code mobile app, where auto-generated session names like macbook-air-71-local-lucky-widget pile up without a search option, turning the list into an unmanageable scroll.

An OpenAI-affiliated engineer pointed to Codex Mobile as a workaround that assigns readable thread titles automatically after initialization, though broader adoption details remain unconfirmed.
No acknowledgment or fix timeline has surfaced from Anthropic, leaving the reported gaps in search and labeling as an open observation from a single high-profile user.
Positive users argue Codex offers better compute value and integrations than Claude, while negative users criticize the mobile app for lacking search, rename tools, and reliable long-thread loading.
No Digg Deeper questions have been answered for this story yet.
@nathanbenaich @bcherny did you try codex mobile - curious if you have some feedback there?
all threads get a meaningful name post initialisation

@nathanbenaich @bcherny That's funny, codex in the chatGPT mobile app looks very similar but the projects are named after the folder where you started the CLI session (well at least if you use CLI, I haven't tried with the desktop app).

@nathanbenaich @bcherny Ty for the feedback! what integrations do you use the most? would love to bring them over to codex if not already in works
I’d be shocked if 100/ 200 plan on CC gives you more value for money than Codex!

@reach_vb @bcherny yes - but i use cc more bc it has more integrations out of the box (for now) and as a solo team the 100/200 a month plan equivalent on codex would probably be 10x more expensive if not more?

@nathanbenaich @bcherny I believe you can change the name of the sessions in the app?

@nathanbenaich @bcherny just /rename

@StephanSturges @bcherny Yes, codex better in this regard

@reach_vb @nathanbenaich @bcherny it's great but even after many improvements is still super slow. connecting takes a lot of time and so does refreshing chats

@reach_vb @bcherny hit y’a on the deeee emmmmms

@wsisaac @bcherny sir have you seen how many sessions there are in the app
these sessions all started on my machine but they don’t carry over

@nathanbenaich @bcherny I find it strange that the AI doesn’t even have a tool to rename them. Even if you ask it, it can’t. You have to do it manually. I feel the LLM should rename it as it goes along, and the focus changes along the way.

Codex mobile still fails to load long threads, even with the latest updates. And that makes it somewhat unusable on the go. Short threads, it loads quite easily. Long-running loop goal threads that you have, it just doesn't load at all. That needs to be looked into and fixed. That's one of my biggest issues with Codex right now. Love everything else, hate that.

@CristiVlad25 @bcherny on pages and pages this? no chance sir

@nathanbenaich @reach_vb @bcherny I would argue you probably get more compute out of a codex sub than a claude sub tbh, and imo the integrations in codex are pretty good + easy, not too much onboarding required
