@shashj The Dec article made little sense. DUV is a completely different technology from EUV. They claimed they could generate EUV light. That's a tiny part of a EUV machine. Way far from making it work I have draft article about this. Soon I will hopefully upload it. Spoiler: complexity

@shashj Any report about ASML losing it’s technologic advantage over a prototype EUV machine developed in China that doesn’t contain words like “yield” or “wafers produced per hour” is to be ignored.

@shashj China developing a prototype of EUV machines does not mean they can manufacture Semiconductors at scale. That would need the industrial supply of a multitude of feed stock chemicals with extreme purity (PPB scale), which Japan is a leader in.

@Tallest1962 @shashj Not to mention that without full access to the same components and consumables supply line that ASML and TSMC use—like Zeiss mirrors (and thousands of others)—even ASML machine can't function. E.g. Every single laser burst makes mirrors less reflective. And they need replacement.

@Mauro_Gilli @shashj They have domestic commercial DUV equipment chain. But they do work on EUV and there was that rumor they are work in 3-shift 24/7 clandestine effort in Shenzhen on EUV. For EUV light source, it is known they developed prototypes in recent years (and even earlier in the lab).
