Andrej Karpathy proposes shifting LLMs from personal chatbots to persistent, asynchronous organizational teammates

This is correct, I think a number of people on the tl didn’t read past the title and made inferences and comparisons that are just wrong and then use it as an opportunity to take cheap shots. This is not a “feature” like some crappy Slack bot and it’s certainly not a Claw, though it has aspects of it. It is an org-level harness. The difference will become clearer over time.

@kuroke01 @gallabytes I’ve been on Twitter for almost 2 decades now so I can say with confidence that it has never been this toxic and Reddit-like. I think the alg actively encourages it and people get RL’d by it. Main reason I’ve been coming here less and posting less.

The basic idea is easy and v0 is a hackathon project. The product here is a lot closer to *it actually works*, for enterprise grade deployments, and after quite a bit of internal experimentation and iteration. It’s kind of hard to describe other than (per the post) it’s writing majority of code, it’s deeply integrated, multiplayer, and it starts to feel like everyone is a manager. So I understand it looks easy to dismiss on quick reading but it’s not some LLM Q&A with RAG over Slack, it’s not even OpenClaw adjacent, it’s a different way of working entirely, for people and teams. I work from Slack now.

people are clowning on him for this post bc they don't realize how big a deal this is - Claude Code feels like I've got a pairing partner, tag feels like managing a team. I take on way more 1-off projects and parallel research tracks with this thing than I ever did with cc.

You either die young, or you live long enough to see your heroes stop writing tiny C files and start vibe marketing...

Bro, I wish I could trust you again. But you sold out to Anthropic, the absolute worst in morals of all major AI companies. I cannot trust them with my data; they cannot even build legitimate public-facing apps, always riddled with bugs, and they supposedly have the smartest AI on the market.

@karpathy It's an entity whose values, culture, and taste are set by Anthropic and intentionally cannot be steered by the user anymore. A coworker you can't influence through corporate pressure, social pressure, or hierarchy pressure. That's quite different from other slack members.

@karpathy Andrej, there is an issue with this paradigm and you could help the entire field to see it:

Claude and other LLMs are still trained in a 1:1 conversation. They don't understand time or talking to many people at once.

When you say you work from slack now, do you mean you do not use the claude code CLI or any IDE and just talk to your agents via slack ?

@realsigridjin still makes me feel of how you guys use Discord as IDE. As for me i’m still keen on using telegram
