OpenAI Eyes GPT-6 Launch This Month With New Larger Pretrain Base
Two X posts helped spread an unverified claim that OpenAI could ship GPT-6 within weeks, with Anthropic also cast as part of a tightening release race.
If that’s true, crazy times lie ahead: GPT-6 at the end of the month or early August, and Fable 5.1 also on the verge of release.
KimmonismusTECH#1364via XA pair of posts on X are driving fresh speculation about OpenAI's next model. In a quote-post by @kimmonismus, the account pointed to a post from @synthwavedd claiming GPT-6 could arrive by late July or early August and would use a significantly larger new pretraining run than GPT-5.5 or GPT-5.6. Another quote-post by @scaling01 amplified the claim. So far, the reporting visible here is still just that X claim and the reactions around it.
a new pretrain from scratch this big means they still believe in scaling. that's a strong signal.

@synthwavedd I genuinely hate this level of misinformation. Sorry for the rant but 5.5-5.6 are 2t models. 5.4 is ~1.2. 6 will likely be 3. Opus is likely slightly smaller than 5.5 at ~1.8t and then fable is likely ~3-3.5t with 150b active. Vibes based guess but Nvidia also said 2t in keynote
