    TLDR

Alex Konrad, founder of Upstarts Media after twelve years as a senior editor at Forbes, posted a reply agreeing sources should speak only to him. He described the column as magazine-style rather than news reporting and said it appeared written without interviews. Konrad guessed the idea of dictating a column was pitched to non-tech editors and approved. He added that such pieces could annoy beat reporters by making later access more difficult.

@alexrkonradI agree, they should only talk to me 😂 In reality: this looks like it wasn’t a news article, but a very magazine-y column without any interview. My guess is they pitched a meta concept of dictating a column and it was greenlit by non-tech editors. Kinda thing that might annoy a beat reporter if it made access harder, but also may not have even been noticed. Like if the theater critic decided to weigh in on Grok Bot.
