Anthropic's Thariq Shihipar demonstrates how AI agent Fable autonomously edited its own launch video using FFmpeg and Remotion

Story Overview

Anthropic engineer Thariq Shihipar showcased the Fable agent handling every phase of its own launch video production, from pulling transcription services through FFmpeg color grading and Figma integration all the way to Remotion compositions and final renders, without any conventional editing software in the loop.

Lots of people asked how I used Fable to edit its own launch video so I made a video about that!

TLDR it wrote a lot of code & tool calls to use transcription services, ffmpeg, do colorgrading, use the figma mcp, make remotion UI and render it.

I didn't touch a video editor.

Workflow Demo

Code and tool calls replaced the whole editing suite

Fable generated and executed the necessary commands across transcription, FFmpeg processing, a Figma MCP server, and Remotion UI creation to deliver the finished clip on its own.

Pricing Watch

Access terms shift after the first two weeks

The model lands in consumer plans at no extra cost through June 22 before moving to usage credits, while API pricing sits at roughly double prior Opus rates with heavy caching discounts available.

Sentiment

Many users praised Fable AI for autonomously editing its own launch video via code and tools as impressive and great, while some called the demo unconvincing or criticized its technical flaws and use case.

Claude Fable 5 changed how we work on the Claude Code team day to day.

We used to verify that Claude did the work right. Now we verify that it's doing the right work.

Here’s the 3 biggest changes:

fun little trick called '$request-design-best-practices-from-anthropic-design-team'

heres the prompt!

1. make a first pass 2. create a figma file 3. message the design team on slack to fix everything about the design 4. profit

great video tho! we do something very similar! but i've been very impressed at fable's taste around sound design too

@trq212 i really really like fable's remotion skills something really special here

big model smell for audio-visual assets is like more frontier than websites etc.

esp the index.html for color grading was chefs kiss

Wow, this is really cool. Has anyone productized this? I would love to be able to take a bunch of my A-roll, dump it into a tool w/ the script I used, and have a magical edit come out the other end with minimal intervention from me. I just haven't seen anything that comes close.

models being good enough to oneshot video editing using raw files is the funniest bit

@trq212 if anthropic terms prohibits ai labs from making educational explainer videos with fable, its really over.

@trq212 I'd definitely be curious to know how much this ended up costing in tokens. For reference people pay anywhere from a couple hundred bucks to a couple thousand per YT video edit.
