ByteDance, Alibaba and Tencent reportedly order over 3 million Nvidia graphics cards

Reuters reports, citing people familiar with the matter, that ByteDance, Alibaba and Tencent ordered more than 3 million Nvidia RTX PRO 5500 graphics cards, worth over $35 billion at sticker price. The sources said Chinese companies are seeking the cards primarily for AI inference, or running trained models. Nvidia has told customers and partners it cannot guarantee filling the orders because demand exceeds planned production, according to Reuters.
