In January 2025, a user predicted that AI agents could fetch information, synthesize it and act for people, making search engines and websites less useful as direct destinations. They warned that agents could become gatekeepers of information and commerce. In October 2026, the same user said the prediction had gone from fringe to conventional wisdom, though not all of it had been fully digested.
