    Kydo@0xkydothis clip is worth watching. ignore how awkward dario is and just listen to the analogy -- especially next to how jensen frames the same thing. dario compares the AI industry to car companies (maybe a shot at jensen, who knows). he frames the openai incident as "someone's brakes failed and something bad happened," and says the right response isn't to attack the other guy -- it's for the whole industry to think about brake problems, form committees, define standards. jensen has made a nearly identical analogy, except he states the brake problem as an engineering problem. so compare them. your brakes are failing. do you fix the brakes so the car actually stops when you need it to, or do you form a committee to discuss how stopping works? pretty clear which one makes sense. fix the damn brakes. what dario is dancing around -- and what elon has said out loud, repeatedly on twitter -- is that p(doom) doesn't come from the brakes being bad. it comes from the car being smarter than you. and you become the car. that analogy barely makes sense, but it's more accurate. the actual problem is you can't control something smarter than you. that's a brake problem in the deepest sense, and he didn't touch it here. which makes me wonder if he ever will, in public, in front of these CEOs. it's a much more direct case for the risk he's actually worried about than "oops my brakes didn't work."22d
