@kitlangton I wish I came up with this. So good.

@theo Poore's law

@theo I wonder if the stock price drop is more than the cost of RAM they would have incurred

@theo Wait why is it happening then if people can't afford it.

@theo The goal is the make the poor suffer. Peak classism

@theo I’ve been holding off on buying M5 MacBook Pro to replace my aging M1 Air, but honestly after the price increase I might do it ASAP

@theo I got an "in between" PC waiting for AM6/DDR6 (this was pre-AI boom, when it looked 1-1.5yrs away) and now I deeply regret not splurging for a maxed out system
On the bright side I did get a 3090 ~6 months pre lowest lows before the GPT boom that I could sell got a profit

@theo I stg if the cost of chocolate chip cookies doubles…

@theo is Memory pricing the only reason behind the skyrocketing prices of MacBooks?

@theo Why would it get better? I'm trying to be optimistic but I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel.

@PrimePolymath @theo No also SSD 😜

@MichaelNineveh @theo Are you doing heavy duty deep learning stuff, Michael?

@f4micom @theo kill the epstein class and ai bubblers?

@theo The problem is they aren’t available with enough RAM, and I’m not paying $25k for a used M3 Ultra. Hoping the next release has enough RAM.

@MarcoNL88 @theo If AI data center demand collapses by a huge margin, so these RAM manufacturers and storage manufacturers need to sell RAM to people that actually want to buy, so they lower the price again.
Probably wouldn't have happened until at least 2028, and that's optimistic. lol.

@theo @grok what kind of computer hardware do data centers use besides H100s

@theo Wait till people only at frontier labs can afford such h/w. Open models wont be a threat when nobody can run them. Haha, dario would be happy

@theo just got a 14 inch M5 with 1TB of storage, pretty sure i was the last person to get it at that store before they changed the prices lol
