@JasonCan someone explain to me why OpenAI and Anthropic allow any employee to tweet anything they want. Apple, Google, Facebook, Nvidia, Microsoft, Tesla, Uber and Airbnb all have obvious and granular rules about e employees speaking for the company. Which is to say, employees should never say anything publicly unless it's cleared with comms first which isn't intended to censor anyone, just to make sure the company is aligned and marching in unison I could never imagine tweeting the stuff that OpenAI and Anthropic employees are tweeting without checking with the CEO and founders first! So are these P-doomers clearing their tweets with the CEO and comms?
@SnehaRevanurI’m proud that in America, OpenAI and Anthropic employees have some freedom to speak about the most absurdly consequential things to ever happen inside private companies
@travisk@Jason Obvious coordination/approval… 1) haven’t seen a single tweet from an existing Anthropic employee with an opposing view to high p(doom).. 2) haven’t seen any official tweet from Anthropic opposing or disavowing these viral tweets
@Turn_TroutRT @SnehaRevanur: I’m proud that in America, OpenAI and Anthropic employees have some freedom to speak about the most absurdly consequentia…
@willdepuei think sama deserves great credit for this. openai, for better or worse, is very defensive of employee freedom of speech. anthropic‘s culture is a follow on to this. it’s rare to see much from X or GDM or Meta
@S_OhEigeartaighI do think it's a small but appreciable contribution to Google DeepMind's decline. I hope they'll start seeing some sense soon.
