Google DeepMind partners with film studio A24 to develop creative AI tools based on filmmaker feedback

Google DeepMind is putting roughly $75 million into A24 as part of a multiyear research deal to build AI tools shaped by actual filmmakers rather than generic prompts. The nonexclusive arrangement keeps A24’s film library off-limits to Google and builds on earlier talks that predate Scott Belsky’s move to the studio. Belsky’s 20-person A24 Labs group is already prototyping an AI storyboard tool meant to flag production issues early while preserving creative risk-taking.
