ByteDance developed its Doubao LLM to power the Doubao App, where it handles everyday queries across China. Heavy tuning in supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning stages produced an agreeable personality. The version running in the app is not Doubao-Seed-2.0. Similar output issues have appeared in other large language models and are viewed as a China-specific variant of the phenomenon.
