@bercankilicWe have 999,995 more robots to deploy, and we’re very happy to have @animesh_garg join us, after months of collaboration, to help turn this into reality.20d

@olivdelavegadeploying a million robots with @animesh_garg20d

@animesh_gargI've spent most of my career on one problem: Generalizable Autonomy for Robots. Robotics have started to get out of the lab. Frontier AI is remarkably good, hardware is available and we believe in data. Yet robotics need a lot of hand holding. The next unlock will come from advances in Self-improvement, RL-based post-training, and agentic interactions. And as frontier AI has shown this requires real world environments. @microagi is the one of the few places that has both sides of coin: Data and Deployments under one roof. @usablerobots is joining @microagi in the shared vision: Physical AI should be a community without gates. Robots are for everyone.20d

@notgiannei@animesh_garg is joining @microagi as Chief Research Officer and bringing his team with him, as part of an acqui-hire of his robotics research company. He also joins Macrovector, our leadership team, and will run the company of roughly 100 people together with us. Animesh has worked in robotics for more than 15 years, and his papers have more than 18,000 citations. He did his PhD at UC Berkeley and a postdoc at Stanford, then became a professor at the University of Toronto and the Vector Institute, holding a CIFAR AI Chair. In parallel he spent six years as a Senior Staff Research Scientist at NVIDIA Research. From 2024 to 2025 he was Chief Scientific Officer at Apptronik, the Texas humanoid company. He is on the faculty at Georgia Tech, where he leads the PAIR group. He was one of the researchers behind ORBIT, software that lets robots practise a task thousands of times in simulation before touching real hardware. It became Isaac Lab, NVIDIA's open-source robot learning framework. His 2023 paper ProgPrompt showed that a large language model could write step-by-step plans a robot could carry out. At microagi he will lead post-training. It is the step that takes a capable general-purpose robot model and teaches it one job at one site, reliably enough that a company can depend on it. In language models, post-training is what turned impressive demos into products people use every day. In robotics it barely exists yet, because until recently most robots only worked in demos and post-training was an academic question. Our goal is to be the first company to deploy a million robots in the real world. The full announcement is on our blog.19d
