    TLDR

    Music and AI account @aug5thmusic posted that GPT-6 Astra produced the strongest chorale yet on the Bach Benchmark. The four-part score in G minor has no voice-leading errors and includes a Neapolitan sixth chord. Auggie noted it is the first model to add passing tones on this test. The post attached a 42-second video of the static LilyPond-rendered score titled ChatGPT-6 Astra Chorale in G Minor set in 3/4 time.

    @aug5thmusicGPT-6 Astra has the best result yet on the Bach Benchmark. Its chorale contains no voice-leading errors, and its harmonic palette is sophisticated enough to include a Neapolitan sixth chord. More importantly, it is the first model to ever write passing tones on this benchmark, a significant leap in musical understanding. Extra High effort. Prompt below: “In LilyPond (version 2.24), write a 4-part chorale in the style of Bach, 3/4 time, G minor. Use two staves -- soprano and alto on the top staff, tenor and bass on the bottom staff. Respond with only the code block.”
    @yishanAI can do a lot of things, and I’ve been programming with Astra all evening but somehow whatever I learned via my involuntary Asian classical piano training was enough for me to be able to tell this music still has no soul. It says nothing. It’s just… some notes being played. 😞
    @TheStalwartAh well. Nevertheless
