Codex AI Tasked With Upgrading Legacy Ubuntu 16.04 Laptop
Update: 16.04 -> 18.04 seems to have worked, although I am having some issues with the GUI/debian. I'll look into fixing those if/when I reach 24.04
Bojan Tunguz@tunguzI am making Codex upgrade my very old System76 laptop running Ubuntu 16.04 with 1070 GPU. Codex is running on my Mac laptop and upgrading the Ubuntu one via terminal. If it pulls it off, I'll concede that we have AGI already.
Update #2: 18.04 -> 20.04 update finished with no issues. No problems with GUI this time around, as I had told Codex to fix all pending boot up issues. CUDA has been properly installed as well (!!!) and nvidis-smi is working.
I had the option to upgrade to 22.04 in the GUI, but opted not to pursue it, as I'd like to finish up this experiment completely within the confines of SSH remote logging in.

I mean, this is the kind of stuff that Codex is figuring out on its own. What does any of that even mean??? Who has the time and energy to figure all of it out??????
Bojan Tunguz@tunguzUpdate #3: 20.04 -> 22.04 update finished with no issues as well. No problems with GUI again. CUDA has been properly upgraded to 13.0. I decided to purge some old unused libraries, all of condo, and upgrade Python to 3.11 before the next upgrade step.
