Kazakhstan’s secondary-school AI pilot aims to reach 500 schools by April 2027

Kai-Fu Lee says he met Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana to discuss an AI pilot for secondary schools. Lee says it started with 10 schools in September 2026 and aims to reach 60 in January and 500 by April 2027. He says 01.AI colleagues worked on the project, which aims to improve learning and make high-quality education more accessible.
