Academic Luca Ambrogioni argues conversing with LLMs is akin to an internal monologue augmented with external knowledge
François Fleuret questioned if this characterization was actually positive
@LucaAmb "Oh my god you and your hot takes..." that's one or five stars review?
Oh my god you and your hot takes... So far, I find more interesting to talk to any educated human than any AI. LLMs aren't good conversation partners, the conversation never resolves to anything very satisfactory and they are not very good at using your ideas creatively in a way that would suprise you. To me, it feels a bit like talking to myself with extra knowledge. Whis is useful but incoparable to a real conversation.

Hot take: only the dumb gossipy topics will remain in human-human discussions. For anything else, you'll be better off talking to an AI.
