FTC reportedly investigates OpenAI and Anthropic over AI harms; California subpoenas OpenAI

A post citing The Wall Street Journal says the FTC has opened an investigation into whether OpenAI and Anthropic deceived consumers about potential harms from their AI technologies. It says the agency plans to issue civil subpoenas in the coming weeks. Channel News Asia reports that California Attorney General Rob Bonta issued OpenAI an investigative subpoena over cybersecurity incidents and risks related to its AI models.
