If you're excited about Amazon's big blowout, be sure to follow these steps for optimal enjoyment.

Get Amazon Prime

If you're not already a Prime member, it's well worth making the jump. We'd recommend upgrading to Prime in general because of the myriad benefits, but if money is tight, you can start a free trial.

Students can get a six-month trial of Prime with a lower monthly cost afterward, and if you have EBT or Medicaid, you might be eligible to save almost half off the monthly cost.

Give Amazon Prime

Have a family member or friend who doesn't have Prime? It's exceedingly easy to give them a gift membership. And since Mother's Day and Father's Day are between now and Prime Day, it's a simple low-stress option with a lot of utility.

Ask Alexa

Historically, Alexa has been a very good way to learn all of the juicy Prime Day deets. We wouldn't be surprised to find out that the Echo has the lowdown about the specific dates and select sales in the lead up to the day itself.
