OUT OF THIS WORLD

Ever since Neil Armstrong took the first selfie on the moon, astronauts and social media have gone hand in hand. Following in Armstrong's dusty footsteps was legendary Canadian astro-tweeter Chris Hadfield who showed us how to brush your teeth in space and strummed out the most famous cover of 'Space Oddity' in history.

But Chris Hadfield is back on Earth and someone has to watch the International Space Station, so NASA sent American astronaut Reid Wiseman to fill his space shoes. Luckily for us down here, Wiseman has been delivering countless tweets, pictures and (most importantly) Vines via the ISS WiFi connection. His Vines show what it's like living in space, live, and have landed him among the virtual stars.

Here are some kickass views of the Southern Lights.

And these are the Northern Lights. Brrrr! Can you feel the Arctic wind?

If you ask me, you shouldn't be lighting fires in a spaceship. But that's none of my business.

And here is the ISS traveling over South Africa at night. Those bursts of yellow just scream, "Humans, wow!"

Hope these folks in Houston remembered their umbrellas! Reid doesn't have to worry about getting wet though, he's in space.

Did you know astronauts grow lettuce in space? We thought they only ate ice cream that they bought from museum gift shops.

Wow! Real space science! The Vine says he's "storing microbiome samples." That's astronaut code for "putting the aliens back in the freezer."

And finally, a serene moonlit cruise for you and your special someone to enjoy. Just imagine Reid up there, looking down on you and whispering, "Don't worry folks, I'm keeping an eye on the galaxy, tuck yourselves in and get a good night sleep before work tomorrow."

Anyway, that's what it's like to be in space! You'll have to imagine the no gravity bit in your head though.
