Having first been introduced to the US way back in the 1950s, color TV has been the norm for American households for many decades β€” but in some countries, it wasn't until as recently as the '80s that people got to enjoy their favorite shows in technicolor.

Using data from Wikipedia, Joseph Shaw charted the years that color TV reached selected countries, and it's striking to see just how much longer some people around the world had to wait for the color revolution than others.

Color TV came to Japan in 1960, while the UK didn't see it until 1969. The country on the list that was stuck watching black-and-white television the longest is India, where color didn't arrive until 1982.
