- Trifold, on 02/25/2009, -21/+155You know...there really ARE a lot of shooters out there. Seems like 95% of games coming out are shooter, GTA clone, or crappy party game. Anyone else noticing this? Maybe it's just me.
- Koush, on 02/25/2009, -20/+120You know, people seem to be complaining about repetitiveness a lot in terms of Yahtzee's review...
I don't have this problem, I pretty much don't accredit this to Yatzhee, but rather the games industry that seems to create 50 FPS games per week with the same damn themed/progression gameplay. - M1N3R, on 02/25/2009, -16/+106I still miss the musical selections for the reviews

Oh stop it with this too cool for school business. Dead Space was a solid game with great atmosphere. It was very enjoyable and it made me jump a few times. Will it haunt my dreams? No. No grown ups are actually afraid of aliens and monsters anymore, what scares us are things like getting your power and water shut off because you didn't pay the bill on time or your child being hit by a car and becoming a paraplegic. That's what scares adults, but pretty much anything that actually scares adults would make for a horrible video game.
Silent Hill had atmosphere and it was great back in the day, so was System Shock 2, but have you played them recently? They aren't scary. We remember them as being scary because we were much younger when we played that game, but as an adult the game is not scary, it is atmospheric, there's a difference.
In my opinion Dead Space is a very atmospheric game, not on the level of SH2 or SS2 of course, but enough to make me thoroughly enjoy my time with the game. You may have enjoyed the game more if you had not had the expectation that it would scare you. I certainly see no reason to call it "*****". - wedges, on 02/26/2009, -1/+12wait... what? fallout 3 was awesome, i put like 65 hours into it and i kind of want to go back for more. BUT it was definately full of brown and gray!!!
- modifiedbears, on 02/25/2009, -2/+12They wouldn't keep making them if they didn't sell. You can't blame the industry for doing what makes them money.
- Rileyluck, on 02/25/2009, -3/+13ok good now dont play fear 2
- itsthehumidity, on 02/25/2009, -7/+16*****'s sake man, you're amateur.
- dullnation, on 02/26/2009, -7/+15I think it's safe to say there will never be any constructive, informative or even interesting comments assosiated with Zero Punctuation submissions on digg.
- diggymow, on 02/25/2009, -3/+10I don't know.... Can still have Half Life 2? Also Money Island 2,3 and 4?
- ICasualty, on 02/25/2009, -2/+9...and so was Killzone 1.
- veins, on 02/26/2009, -0/+6dead space scared me because my computer is ***** and it would lag badly so monsters would appear out of thin air
- supertom, on 02/25/2009, -5/+11I didn't know people still did Rick Rolls.
- DanPlainview, on 02/25/2009, -0/+6I love how well you gave reasoning for all that knowledge you just dropped on us.
- nevaseez, on 02/26/2009, -0/+6There's a sucker born every minute
- DanPlainview, on 02/25/2009, -0/+6Doom has been on the cutting edge of gaming since its first installment back in the day. Doom 3 kept up that tradition by being one of the first games to have what could be considered "next-gen" graphics. Sure it was ported to Xbox, but the PC version was a ***** beast when it was released. That ***** made my jaw drop. The first time that thing tore open that staircase and lunged at you, that was amazing back in its day!
Sure there have been MANY games that have since come out that are identical to Doom 3's gameplay and graphics, but you must remember that Doom 3 was on the front line for this "next-gen FPS" revolution that seems to just now be coming to an end.
Knock FPS all you want, but please, give the Doom series and the people behind it the respect that they deserve. I can't wait for the next one! - Rowan187, on 02/26/2009, -0/+6oh really
- bstew22, on 02/25/2009, -2/+8you haven't been here long then.
edit: well you have.... but have you never seen a bury brigade? - Trifold, on 02/25/2009, -5/+10A what? Is that like one of those all your base things?
- Phinwood, on 02/26/2009, -0/+4dead space was still the *****
- JoeF8577, on 02/26/2009, -0/+4Seriously man, you and me we're done professionally.
- kong27, on 02/25/2009, -5/+8CLAP CLAP OI!
- NeilW710, on 02/26/2009, -1/+4well he said 95%, so that does leave fallout3 to fit in that 5% "not the same old crap" category...
- e36wheelman, on 02/26/2009, -0/+3Empire: Total War?
- PhilliesBlunt, on 02/25/2009, -2/+5X
Didn't work. I sharted. - BrendanJB, on 02/27/2009, -0/+2I don't know, going through Chapter 1 for the first time, being cut off from your crew and then being chased down almost pitch black, blood stained hallways to an elevator where you just narrowly make it was really something else, especially seeing as you had no weapon. I hadn't felt that kind of tension since versing 2 Pyramid Heads for the first time.
Granted, it got stale after about Chapter 6-7. At the end of every mission, it was always...
"Oh but now THIS needs fixing, guess you better go do all the work again Isaac, I'll sit here and be a bitch."
Although I have to say, it had one of the coolest looking end boss battles I've ever played. Too bad about that RIDICULOUS ending. - saunders45, on 02/25/2009, -5/+7You're right, Halo was better.
- chadwalters23, on 02/26/2009, -0/+2Braid and the Thief series and Painkiller and the relaunch of Prince of Persia he has shown benevolence toward.
(I'm usually guilty of some comma abuse, thought I'd try going the other direction this time.) - Criminolelawyer, on 02/26/2009, -0/+2* There was a deep amount of sarcasm in my statement. I can't believe you guys thought I was serious
*[INTELLIGENCE] Your misuse of sarcasm is semi-convoluted; you mix subective valid points (i.e. complex, and in spirit with its predecessors) with sarcasm understandably leading to confusion. Especially when you can't inflect the tone of your voice to emphasize the sarcasm, (a vital tool in expressing sarcasm)
(sadly your attempt to appear superior to your peers has left you looking like a jackass), congratulations you got the "jackass" trophy - jgaspar, on 02/25/2009, -3/+5you played it?
- tymme, on 02/25/2009, -1/+3But this version has the BFG9001! It's 1 better than the BFG 9000 and that makes the game awesome!
If people didn't keep buying them, the franchises wouldn't continue.... - djpray2k, on 02/26/2009, -0/+2OOOOhhhhhhh Gooooooood
- JesusHimself, on 02/26/2009, -0/+2go to his psychonauts review
- MrSarcasm, on 02/25/2009, -1/+3Yes, that is correct. Thank you kind sir.
- AuriniDMJ, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1Just go and read them, man. Half of them are the equivalent of "First post!" while the other half are written in the sort of broken English that High School dropouts use.
- gdo01, on 02/25/2009, -2/+3Wow, you're right.
- abrasion, on 02/26/2009, -0/+1Bump for dumb ***** on digg (as usual) news at 11.
- Halsfield, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1apparently 3 people find female genitalia licking to be a horrible experience, poor noobs =/
- ryuujinusa, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1I think this is his best review ever, not because he ripped FEAR a new @sshole, he does that to almost every game. But his comments on sequels, I couldn't agree more with it. The whole "lets leech money off a good game" with wishy washy ***** is stupid.
Now go ahead and bury me... - AuriniDMJ, on 02/26/2009, -0/+1The only element the game did well was the environments - and even those are only good if you pretend the war happened ten years ago, not two-hundred.
Even then there's the problem with burnt corpses found in wooden buildings which are still standing.
The game is a samey, dumbed down RPG clone, with awful dialogue, a poor rip off of the sandbox genre, and a horrible shooter. Aside from some shiny graphics (which suffered from awful animation) there was nothing innovative or new about this game. If you think this game was good, then you really need to raise your standards. Otherwise, why don't you just let them stomp on the other on the other side of your face? - maussimo010, on 02/25/2009, -1/+2nice.
- CrazySpaniard, on 02/27/2009, -0/+1you must be new here
- AdmiralAcbar, on 02/25/2009, -2/+3No, its just the bury brigade... I dugg you up.
- Wesside, on 02/26/2009, -0/+1in the sort of broken English that X-box live and Texting have created
- Fixed that for you. - CrazySpaniard, on 02/27/2009, -0/+1nope, you're just a fag
- tgc1, on 02/26/2009, -0/+1Not just you. Which is partially why I don't really give much a ***** about games on the top 3 consoles these days. All the same *****, different packaging.
- Evilblobs, on 02/27/2009, -0/+1Dead Space was a an action game with multi-limbed monsters... like almost all horror games in recent memory.
There was literally 0 buildup, very little tension, boring enemies, dull gameplay, and mouse acceleration is truely dreadful.
On the other side, zero-g is done well, the environments are well done, and the plot wasnt quite as dreadful as I expected. -
