Although I do think that they should have offered at least another version of this Xbox.

- dansmeek, on 03/21/2008, -4/+20i've always wondered.... if you have one of these limited edition xbox's (like this, or say, the halo xbox), and it RRODs, do you get the same style xbox back? or just whatever. this sort of also applies to the newer "falcon" models. when you send that in do you get a "falcon" xbox back or possibly a refurbished 1st gen model.

One of them worked fine, the other conked out about 2 weeks later. We sent it back, and they sent us ANOTHER one. By another one, I mean I'm not sure if it was "new", or just refurbished. However, either way, it was completely spotless (cosmetically), clean (hard drive was new/formatted), and hasn't broken since. Hope this will answer your question.

You send it an black xbox, you will get a black one back. You send in a halo xbox, you get a halo one back. Supposedly if you send in one with the newer chip architecture, you will most likely end up with a refurb with the old architecture.

Anyway, as far as I know, they'll be repairing boxes if possible. If they cannot be repaired, then a comparable replacement will be sent. There's no way to tell if they'll up- or downgrade you until you've gotten your box back.

This is meant to say that when you design something and you spell it out so boldly, it looks like something that should hang in the window of a Denny's or McDonalds. I'd say this is in that category. Look at it again, "GRAND THEFT AUTO". It looks like a big cartridge. If you're over the age of 10, you're not going to want that in the living room. Take a company like Apple or Sony who are much more subtle and elegant. Actually, the Metal Gear special addition is just gunsmoke grey with a little text at the bottom that you can barely see. Elegant..... I truly wish MS would put some thought into design sometimes and take the high road instead of being the McDonalds of computers and games.
