- overnine9k, on 10/18/2009, -0/+37It's amazing how many people hate MS and love Xbox at the same time
- techobo, on 10/18/2009, -3/+38I don't see myself ever using FB or Twitter on my console if all I have to do is reach 2 feet to my laptop. Instead of catching up to trends, they should try innovating. :P
- tjallen, on 10/18/2009, -2/+34You can get early access by signing up here:
https://connect.microsoft.com/XboxLIVEUpdate
They're letting in as many people as they can, so your chances are good of getting the preview. - diggitalism, on 10/18/2009, -3/+32last.fm on here is pretty much useless since it doesn't scrobble your songs or play in the background during games.
- kaijunexus, on 10/18/2009, -13/+34OMG! I KNOW, RIGHT?!
Those stupid Xbox fanboys. I mean, us PS3 fans have bluray, Uncharted 2, and...uh.....Home?
PS3 = fail
and Sony knows it, too. The only thing saving them is Bluray and a handful of exclusive titles.
Sure, Twitter and Facebook may not be monumental additions to Live, but at least they're trying. Sony gave you what? Home? What a joke.
Not to mention that Natal is an actual advancement in motion control technology as opposed to Sony's near duplication of Wii's concept. - iheartbakon, on 10/18/2009, -1/+15ATARI 2600 FTW!!!!!!!111one11eleven!1!!
- geoman2k, on 10/18/2009, -2/+16Let me know when they add Hulu
- SpectralSounds, on 10/18/2009, -0/+12Yeah because they raised the price of Live for this update! ROBBERY!
/s - stuffradio, on 10/18/2009, -1/+13Come ooooooooooon Hulu... in Canada!
- diggitalism, on 10/18/2009, -0/+11you can listen to artist/tag/genre radios, browse photos, and i think even tag songs. but for listening purposes you're stuck in the actual program.
- Mockylock, on 10/18/2009, -1/+12Yet.
- OutAndAbout, on 10/18/2009, -3/+14AND POOF! You now have Web TV. MS has been trying to sneak it into our lives for years. Guess they finally found the right medium.
- Mockylock, on 10/18/2009, -0/+11Who said you had to have Gold to use it? I didn't see it anywhere.
- caramelzappa, on 10/18/2009, -1/+11I don't think either console is a failure. But the biggest difference to me is online support, and Xbox Live just kicks the ***** out of the PSN. Party system, cross-game chat, invites, netflix, Demos for every downloadable game. Yea, PSN is free but after having XBL for years it doesn't even matter, because the PSN can't provide the services and community XBL does.
- sinurgy, on 10/18/2009, -0/+10Screw the web browser, c'mon .mkv support!
- kaijunexus, on 10/18/2009, -1/+10....and Dilbert??
- sikedsyko, on 10/18/2009, -0/+8Actually it can
- sikedsyko, on 10/18/2009, -3/+11I don't understand people's need for a web browser on game consoles. I have only used the web browser on my PS3 once, when I first bought it. Controllers are not made for a browser
- Stalks, on 10/18/2009, -0/+8Jesus Christ Darkviper .. you're 23!? Grow the ***** up. There is more to life than consoles.
What difference does it make to you if someone else likes a different console anyway?
I never understand these flames at other console owners. Its like you designed and built the console yourselves and are helplessly trying to protect your own work. - billpyle, on 10/18/2009, -1/+9So if it doesn't scrobble your songs or play in the background, what does it do exactly?
- AlyxVance, on 10/18/2009, -3/+10nice, thanks for the tip. just signed up
- diggitalism, on 10/18/2009, -1/+8I believe the iPod touch is the be all, end all to modern gaming.
/s - adml_shake, on 10/18/2009, -0/+6I don't think I'll be using them either. The thing that I really want is the last.fm player so I can pipe tunes through my stereo while I'm doing stuff around the house.
- diggitalism, on 10/18/2009, -0/+6please see: /s
short for: /sarcasm
sarcasm: -noun
1. harsh or bitter derision or irony.
2. a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark - iheartbakon, on 10/18/2009, -4/+10Why didn't they just make a browser instead of a dedicated app for twitter and facebook? PS3 and Wii have browsers, why not xbox?
- ChuckDees, on 10/18/2009, -2/+8Too bad the last.fm cannot be streamed into the game play itself.
I mean who really just hangs out in the dashboard area? - ohreilly, on 10/18/2009, -0/+5I'm far more interested in the Sky Player stuff that is supposed to be coming very soon.
- uncwidiot, on 10/19/2009, -0/+5You can plug in a usb keyboard and it'll work with the xbox. It makes setting up new profiles and xbox live accounts a lot quicker.
- GodsTwin, on 10/19/2009, -0/+5I think he was talking about using Twitter/Fb on the 360, and not gaming in general.
- ricodued, on 10/18/2009, -4/+9That could get super lengthy and spam-like. Instead, it'd be awesome to be able to publish "great games" and saved films to your feed automagically. Unnecessary? Yes. Cool? Probably.
- Ev3nt372, on 10/18/2009, -0/+5http://lifehacker.com/5383474/hulu-desktop-integra ...
I got really happy when I saw Hulu on media center thinking great now I can get Hulu on my 360 through media center but then got disappointed when I read the comments that it doesn't work with media center extenders. What the hell is the point of Hulu in media center not working with extenders. Hulu desktop already is fully controllable with that media center remote thingy so WTF? - Fmunkey, on 10/18/2009, -0/+5My status is "Active"
- freeridstylee, on 10/18/2009, -1/+5Microsoft doesn't want to cannibalize their desktop operating system.
- xino, on 10/18/2009, -0/+4You didn't just imagine it. I heard that too.
- tubb311, on 10/19/2009, -0/+4adding new features that i can use if i want without raising the price of XBL? how dare they?!
- Mockylock, on 10/18/2009, -1/+5Microsoft isn't known for having a safe and clean browser. They avoid using it on different consoles/utilities when at all possible. It's not the greatest on Mobile, Zune or elsewhere. They'd be better off having someone else develop it.
- eMximeR, on 10/18/2009, -0/+4One is cool to do, and the other isn't
- OUberLord, on 10/18/2009, -0/+4lol Darkviper, way to be a fanboy. Both consoles have ***** restrictions; they're consoles. It's kind of the way of things. Sure the PS3 can load linux and can take any hard drive you want to put in there (of the appropriate physical size and port of course), but its still not wide open.
Not to mention that with Nintendo out of the hardcore gaming market you know what would happen if MS pulls up its stakes and leaves the console business, right?
With sequel-itis in full swing and only two players on the field, you should be embracing every bit of competition both camps can muster. - Painkilla05, on 10/18/2009, -0/+4I have a laptop for this.
- TwenT4, on 10/18/2009, -0/+4Could that surprise possibly be fixing the current audio player to
-save streaming playlists
-allow full access to shared media without leaving game
-skip WITHIN a goddamn song
? - Mockylock, on 10/18/2009, -0/+4"Very sneaky, sir."
- username9000, on 10/18/2009, -4/+7get a chatpad. done.
- eMximeR, on 10/18/2009, -1/+4Please tell me the list of these games that aren't supported, any game I tried is. I'm guessing the games you are trying are like Barbie Horse Adventures
- Painkilla05, on 10/18/2009, -1/+4People thumbed you down. They did it for a reason. Chill the ***** out.
- W00K13, on 10/20/2009, -0/+3Dear Microsoft, Stop all the cheaters and modder's that have destroyed competitive gaming on xbox live!
Twitter?
Twitter!
You have got to be kidding me, gamers don't want twitter.
We want you to clean up your online gaming service, YOU KNOW, the one that has over 17 million subscribers at 50 dollars a year (You do the math), but can't set up dedicated servers or anti-cheating software on their own machine???!!!!!! You will pay an army of codemonkeys to program stuff to sell me on every window, but can't keep cheaters from ruining the reason I bought the system in the first place? SHAME ON YOU! - AngryDeuce, on 10/19/2009, -0/+3How about updating the media center extender functionality to actually recognize more then 1/10th of the media content people have on their computers?
And Facebook/Twitter? I take it we are now about to see a deluge of "Achievement Unlocked" tweets flying any day now... - tubb311, on 10/19/2009, -0/+3i do, i use it to listen to music through my surround sound while i'm doing things around the house. just because you don't feel like using all the features available to you, doesn't mean no one else does.
- ProtocolDroid, on 10/18/2009, -0/+3I think they may have mentioned the possibility of being able to take screenshots and post them on facebook. Maybe I just imagined it though...
- venom8599, on 10/19/2009, -0/+3They want to make it easy to access their content on PCs, however the controlling corporations and special interests (cable companies) don't want their content easily available for free to watch on a TV. They want to try to keep them separate experiences.
The latest version of TVersity (the pro version, anyway) supports Hulu, Netflix, and ESPN streaming--but it's pretty clunky compared to the real Hulu web interface or desktop app. -
