- deaftly, on 01/04/2008, -27/+181Just for ***** and giggles. Halo 3 has also sold 8.1 million copies, which is more then total ps3 sales worldwide.
- deaftly, on 01/04/2008, -28/+130Good for MS and good to see an american console do well. The 360 is just a fantastic gaming experience
- pacmangamer, on 01/04/2008, -21/+104I still enjoy my Wii for just good fun, Buit when it comes to hardcore gaming its my 360 or my PC.
- Chucara, on 01/04/2008, -10/+79Having both a Wii and an Xbox 360, I must admit that the 360 deserves the top title. While the Wii controllers are innovative, the charm quickly subsides - especially since there aren't any great games for the Wii.
- mrbad101, on 01/04/2008, -13/+58I waited 8 hours in the freezing cold for a Wii, that has only been used for bout 40 hours max at my home. I've been a Nintendo fanboy since I first laid my hands on the NES.
I was given a 360 as a gift, because I refused to believe that Microsoft could build a console worth having.
Boy was I wrong. I am a total convert now. The 360 has now become the centerpoint of all my entertainment, excluding my PC. I use it as my Media Center (replaced my TiVO).
The games are hands down amazing. It has a massive library, and I'm always blown away by how good the games are, and look! I'm using a HDTV, and got a 360 w/ the HDMI output, and games are simple gorgeous.
The 360's dashboard, using the "blades" organizer is simply genius on a console. I chronically find myself downloading game demo's, something I gave up doing a decade ago on my PC, because of how easily it is to grab a handful of demos, and try them out. I have found myself spending hundreds of dollars on games for the 360, because of how easy it was to try a demo, determine the game was worth buying, and purchasing it.
The BIGGEST hurdle, that was easily overcome though, was my wife, who I use as a gauge to determine how easy and fun something is to use. She immediately was hooked on using the Arcade, and Guitar Hero. She also enjoys how seemless it is to go from playing a game, to watching a hd-dvd, to watching live tv on the media center.
There are lots of things that still need improvement, but all in all, an amazing device. - iLemon, on 01/04/2008, -1/+39Because we measure these things called years that are based on a twelve month calendar.
- radink360, on 01/04/2008, -9/+40Great gaming system. Probably one of the best ones I've ever had.
- unicronband, on 01/04/2008, -5/+33Can you flamebaiters just give it a ***** rest and just play the games you like on the consoles you like without being immature pricks and wasting precious thread space? God, if people like you spent a fraction of the energy you spend on dissing each other's respective systems towards something positive, the world might not suck nearly as bad as it does.
- xXGeechXx, on 01/04/2008, -2/+29Didn't the xbox 1 only sell like 15 million or something like that total?
This is good news, the more people with xbox's, the more people will get them, the more people that will jump online, which means more friends to play with which I think is what xbox is all about. - logicalnoise, on 01/04/2008, -1/+28attach rate includes stuff purchased at the location so real titles.
- fenderltd, on 01/04/2008, -2/+28I love the 360 and think the Wii may top those sales. With the latest release of the Xbox 360 Dashboard, I feel the 360 with gain a lot of ground with being able to play all the video formats now.
- ahhell, on 01/04/2008, -2/+28You fail at math.
- xdeliriumx, on 01/04/2008, -11/+37I was a huge Nintendo fanboy and bought the Wii the day it came out. I eventually sold it for a 360 and it is by far the best console I have ever played... okay okay NES and SNES were pretty amazing too.
- Thorlord, on 01/04/2008, -5/+28not counting replacements.
that is if you actually sent it back to microsoft...
if you for some reason dident realize that there is a free replacement policy then you should send in your 2 broken ones for a total of 3 working ones. - archer75, on 01/04/2008, -3/+26you won't find a better online gaming system for any other console
- inactive, on 01/04/2008, -0/+23Holy ***** you own 100,000 360's and they ALL just got the rrod? sucks for you.
- chris9902, on 01/04/2008, -3/+25he could do that but my guess would be he doesn't even own one. trolls.
- inactive, on 01/04/2008, -6/+28No, judging by the deaftly said, "Halo 3 has also sold 8.1 million copies" kinda means 8.1 million copies of Halo 3 have been purchased from retailers.
- archer75, on 01/04/2008, -0/+19I agree
- chris9902, on 01/04/2008, -3/+21the original xbox sold something like 20 million in 5 years so it's going good for them.
- Mullinsmcd, on 01/04/2008, -5/+22This should not be a matter of console vs console bickering. This is a victory for all gamers no matter what system you own. Gaming is becoming more and more a viable business much like movies and music have been within the past decades. I hope that all of the consoles continue to sell more and more and we get more incredible games as the years go on.
- inactive, on 01/04/2008, -8/+25Same thing happened to me. I realized what a huge disappointment the Wii was about a month after launch. Nintendo basically drove me to buying a 360. I traded in all my Wii games and for now, it's tucked away in my drawer until Brawl comes out.
- Fallout911, on 01/04/2008, -3/+19I have the wii and the 360 and my wife became a gamer because of the 360.
Xbox live arcade is great for casual gamers.
My Wii is collecting dust... - SeaICIubber, on 01/04/2008, -1/+17Totally spot on.
The 360 is a lot more of an attractive long-term package than the Wii both for customers and especially for developers.
I'm a total Apple fan boy but credit where credits due and the 360 is a good package - kahlessreborn, on 01/04/2008, -3/+18Not when you 360 becomes a media server so you can watch movies on your TV from your computer.
- exomni, on 01/04/2008, -1/+16That number actually DOESN'T include XBLA titles.
- Christbait, on 01/04/2008, -7/+22Some people are just too dumb to realise what a warranty is for.
- inactive, on 01/04/2008, -4/+18Stay in school kid.
- klethron, on 01/04/2008, -27/+41This is just great, Microsoft did to Sony with the 360 what Sony did to Sega with the PS2.
Take that Sony, doesn't taste so damn good when it happens to you does it. Now fix my PS3. - inactive, on 01/04/2008, -5/+19That attach rate is insane. It doesnt really matter if the Wii catches the 360 for installed base, because its attach rate is far smaller. It looks like a pretty safe bet that the 360 will be the #1 choice for developers for a while to come.
- m4szyman, on 01/04/2008, -2/+16I own a Wii and I still don't get the "I play my Wii for fun" statement, how is shaking a controller in any direction to execute a pre-determined animation (such as the spin in SMG or the sword swing in Zelda) any different from pressing the "A" button? Its not like any Wii game actually maps your movements 1 to 1, the only useful application of the Wii-mote that I've seen is as a pointing device in MP3 but it still doesnt beat a mouse+keyboard combo for shooters. I agree that graphics don't make a game good but the fact that the ps3 and xbox360 are so much more powerful than the Wii means you can have stuff like destructable environments, realistic physics, more enemies on screen at the same time and better AI all of which is more fun to me than randomly shaking around a controller, and don't even get me started on the 3rd party games
- inactive, on 01/04/2008, -4/+18Well they havent announced quarterly profits even once since their last quarters earnings statement. Maybe that has something to do with it? Yah think?
- gorilla, on 01/04/2008, -22/+35Damn, the PS3 fanboys have already rushed in to protect their beloved console.
- zeejay, on 01/04/2008, -1/+14The Dreamcast had a greater installed base than the PS2 for quite a while, too. Just saying it's a little early to be calling winners...
- xelloss, on 01/04/2008, -2/+15Maybe because you don't actually have to be at the console during folding at home. Also the graph probably shows all the PCs and PS3s around the world working, not just PS3s.
- drjekelmrhyde, on 01/04/2008, -4/+16Of course they wouldn't sell another 10 million in their second year cause they have competition from Wii and PS3
- bulgingbritches, on 01/04/2008, -3/+13Probably a low percentage, but still, a sale is a sale.
- anillop, on 01/04/2008, -1/+11Go back to your cave troll.
- Bozmanbeyond, on 01/04/2008, -7/+17I will say this working for the largest game retailer that during the holiday it was tough to find a 360 at any one of our stores in my area.
- deaftly, on 01/04/2008, -1/+11slap bracelets were ***** awesome!
- swingsetacid, on 01/04/2008, -2/+12Yeah, it sucks. In fact, I used to be pretty smug about the fact I had a launch console that hadn't a single problem from day one (BTW, I still have a PS2 launch console with no issues I still love, so no fanboy here). Then last month, RROD.
Still, MS sent me a fixed console in a week and a half, no difficulties, no cost. Honestly, what's there to complain about? - CollapseControl, on 01/04/2008, -4/+14LOL @ folding@home, good times there, hahaha.
If that is the best the PS3 offers, i'm glad no one I know with enough brains wasted so much money on that crap system. - deaftly, on 01/04/2008, -2/+11im enjoying the 360 more than the ps2 personally, it has alot to do with the 360's controller which is light years ahead of sony's old ass controller
- PedleZelnip, on 01/04/2008, -13/+22I have to say this as I just bought a 2nd one: how many are people buying new ones to replace their busted 360's that didn't RRoD (and thus weren't under warranty)?
- smackafiyah, on 01/04/2008, -1/+10I'm sure you can use a PC for alot more than just gaming
- sugarazor, on 01/04/2008, -0/+9Mine didn't get the Red Ring but it still busted and MS still fixed it for free.
- GUTTS, on 01/05/2008, -0/+9So basically your brother bought himself a PS3?
- ChinezePanda, on 01/04/2008, -0/+9so is mine... just like the gamecube all over again
- inactive, on 01/04/2008, -7/+16And VGChartz is now claiming by my rough math... 1.7 million and say... 10k retail outlets, that each of those stores has 170 xbox in stock. LOL!
- smackafiyah, on 01/04/2008, -3/+11It was 16,999,999 before I purchased it.
