- Hetman, on 01/15/2009, -1/+21I played the COD5 beta. I just could not justify buying it since I already own COD4 and I play mostly online. They are very close to being the same exact game. Gears of war is really fun, but after buying it I wish I would have gone with L4D. Because almost everyone on my friends list pretty much have just been playing L4D constantly. And I am stuck playing horde :( Not that horde is not fun, but L4D just seems better.

- reiggin, on 01/16/2009, -5/+18Once you've played through all 50 waves of Horde, there's really nothing compelling left in GoW2's multiplayer. The matchmaking system was/is broken. They made the mistake of releasing an unfinished product.
Now. With that being said, Treyarch is also guilty of not squashing their bugs. Glitches in COD: WaW's multiplayer are becoming more and more of an issue. "Castle" is almost an unbearable map now because of all the glitch bitches who either get under the map or float above it. That's just one example of the many glitches. And most of these glitches have existed since the beta. Promises of fixes haven't materialized. The difference between GoW's bugs and WaW's bugs is that with WaW, at least you can still get IN a multiplayer game.
Treyarch rode the coattails of what Infinity Ward created with the online system of COD4. Here's to hoping that Infinity Ward gets a new COD out soon and shows Treyarch (once again) how it's supposed to be done.
With no compelling multiplayer games coming out for Xbox Live anytime soon, I believe most of us FPS fans will be stuck with WaW for some time... like it or not... - mikedeezy33, on 01/16/2009, -11/+23Gears of War 2 is a terrible game. What a slap in the face of gamers to release an unfinished game, and then instead of fixing it, releasing a map pack for 10+ dollars. You suck Epic Games. I will never buy an Epic game ever again.

Activision says "Call of Duty 5" and "Call of Duty 6" referring to the respective games. Considering the amount of time alloted by the publisher, the issues are warranted.

If you don't know what I'm talking about or just started with the CoD series with CoD4 and have no clue what single shot guns are (not snipers) you dugg me down like a pansy. WaW brings back bolts, and actual competitive play. Yeah you can get a PPsH with double tap and spray and pray your ass...or you can play competitively with just bolts.

- skin, on 01/16/2009, -0/+8The only problem I had with the game was the long wait to get into games. Other than that the game completely met expectations. And it wasn't really there choice when to release the game. I'm sure Microsoft made it completely clear to them since Gears 1 came out that a Nov 2008 release was required. If you haven't noticed yet, they want Halo and Gears to alternate so that one of those come out every holiday season.

There were a bunch of Resident Evils before Resident Evil 4 came out and there were a bunch of GTAs before GTA 4 came out and that is the reason jtbndy is right. With that said, I will continue calling COD:WaW COD 5 because it's shorter and widely accepted on an unofficial level.

Gears 2's single player rocked, I just wish I had played it in co-op mode with my mate. Using the chainsaw to cut the beast's heart out was probably one of the most memorable moments I have ever experianced with game. - I loved Gears of War 1 but I can't for the life of me remember anything about it - I doubt I will ever say that about Gears 2. What more, the moving cover was a pretty sweet innovation and the rain running level was a good twist.
I can't speak to the quality of online because I refuse to pay for live anymore (now I have my PS3) but the single player rocks. How somoene can claim it failed is beyond me. - diggdiggerid, on 01/16/2009, -0/+6cs: zombie mod is way better than l4d

Still very good though. - phrozen755, on 01/16/2009, -2/+8CoD 5 WaW is on the same engine as CoD4, but by no means is it the same game as CoD4. CoD4 was OK, CoD5 just completely kicks ass. The gratification alone of torching someone with a flame thrower is enough to make anyone smile.
Plus, CoD5 has bolts, CoD4 doesn't, which means every old school CoD player can now revisit CoD 1 / 1.5 and 2 gameplay just now with kick ass graphics, Molotov cocktails, etc. - Echelon86, on 01/16/2009, -2/+8I noticed during the holidays a lot of retailers had COD WAW for $35. I have not seen any price point for GoW2 except at $60. Makes sense to me.

- dandonia, on 01/16/2009, -0/+5I think COD IV and Gears 2 both are amazing at different things. For multiplayer game play I think COD IV is one of the best shooters ever made. For single player/co-op campaign mode - Gears is vastly superior to COD. Either way noth are fantastic games an should be played by them all.

WaW to me just seemed like Treyarch was trying to make it too much like CoD4 by keeping perks that they really should've gotten rid of for the WW2 setting, etc.. The only saving grace to me was Nazi Zombies. Too bad there's only the one map for that--at least until a map pack.
