- kazimierczuk, on 07/11/2008, -10/+54If you'd turn 360 degrees then you'd be facing the 360 again. Besides the fact that it breaks often, 360 is still better then the PS3.
- wontstoptalking, on 07/13/2008, -2/+34Let me say it before it even begins:
These (fanboy) comments (are going to) suck. - CommissarVlad, on 07/11/2008, -2/+27Fanboys need not comment...
- timestop, on 07/12/2008, -1/+26As a target employee, I know the mark down will be in the Sunday ad, they'll probably flag as an auto mark down in the system on Sunday morning.
- ThinkBox, on 07/12/2008, -3/+18Turn 360 degrees, walk toward.
Tykwondingo fails math. - Spire3660, on 07/13/2008, -1/+15The baddest vid card made to date right now is $299, when looking at it cost/benefit
Best PC control pad is the MS 360 one, wireless version will run you $50 for controller and $20 for USB wireless adapter or $40 for wired controller
$50 ISP internet would be required for any multliplayer, non-issue. Also you can get DSL for a lot chaper these days.
PC games are often FAR cheaper than their console clones. A recent example is Race Driver GRID (good arcade racer and nice counter point to GT5:prologue) XBOX360/PS3 version $60, PC version $40, all versions released at the same time.
You can grab a good Intel Quad core for under $300
A PC can also do your taxes, email, create documents, run a business etc. and so forth. - IndigoMoss, on 07/13/2008, -4/+16That's true, whatever your opinion on either console is, when you add up the stuff you need to get going on the 360 compared to the PS3, the price is very marginal at best. Microsoft plays it better though, because those fees are not included with purchase, so people think that they are paying less for their system, when in fact they are only paying a small bit less.
Although this has been Microsoft's strategy before, with many other products besides the 360. Hell, besides the PS3, Sony has been known to do this on many of their products, including their PCs where they make you pay to get rid of the bloatware.
That being said, it really isn't about price, it's about the things you want out of the console. If you want HD-video, Japanese exclusives, and the capability to run Linux on your console, then go with the PS3. If you want Xbox Live, Halo (among other exclusives), and the Xbox Live Marketplace, go with the 360.
Personally, I had both, but I sold the 360 and I keep the PS3 around for Blu-ray, Final Fantasy, and Rock Band, because I mostly play PC games. - evilesttoast, on 07/15/2008, -2/+13True gamers play on a PC. Everyone else is casual.
- inactive, on 07/13/2008, -0/+10What is this $100 school you go to?
- SuperVepr308, on 07/11/2008, -10/+19Own's what? Not the online market, not exclusives (sans MGS4), not the top sales spot (I could go on and on...)
- bdav87, on 07/13/2008, -3/+11why would you pay for the OS?
- Naskin, on 07/13/2008, -2/+9Shyeah, the guy in four-thousand dollar suit, is g-g-gon-gonna walk to the store to buy one of those things... COME ON!
- graemee, on 07/13/2008, -1/+8Yeah, 100MB port >>>>> wireless 54g
- Evari, on 07/13/2008, -1/+8Do not feed the trolls
- nobody98, on 07/13/2008, -0/+6The consoles will never overtake the PC as far as ease of operating RTS and first person shooting games go. I'd much rather for instance play COD4 on my pc than on my xbox or ps3.
Eventually until all consoles and games fully support a mouse and keyboard I will carry on pc gaming. - inactive, on 07/13/2008, -2/+8I gotta bury you for the "so I can use it in my dorm without taking my only ethernet port".
- wehat, on 07/13/2008, -0/+5I'm leaving in a few hours to go get one. The price may have been listed at 299.99 on their website for a few days, but stores still rung them up as 349.99 as of Saturday night. Also, on Sunday only I believe, they will be handing out 25 dollar gift cards (which I will, of course, use with my purchase to pay for tax basically)
This is all to clear the shelves of 20GB models to make room for the 60GB which they are going to announce at E3. Whether this will include the new 65nm GPU or not is yet to be revealed though. - Iztikeit, on 07/13/2008, -2/+7I wouldn't say "kickass". video cards are freaking expensive because of market monopolies
- inactive, on 07/13/2008, -0/+5Uhh the 360 only scratches disc if you have a game in and you switch the console from the horizontal to the vertical position while the disc is spinning. I've got a newer 360 system (a little under a year now) and I've yet to have any RRoD problems (I did with my first gen console). Besides, you have a 3-year protection against RRoDs when buying a new 360 anyway.
- bipolarruledout, on 07/13/2008, -0/+5There are pros and cons to both platforms but the xbox is a very good value for the money and I would recomend it to anyone as a media extender. Consoles have many advantages over PC's, the biggest being ease of use with few complications.
- iharbinger, on 07/13/2008, -0/+5the only time I've ever had my 360 scratch a disk was when I was picking it up and transporting it when it was on, and running a disk, but that was just stupidity, other than that, I've had no problems.
- IrvineKinneas50, on 07/13/2008, -18/+22Great, now it's down to $299. I'll go pick up one, get a $60 wifi adapter so I can use it in my dorm without taking my only ethernet port, get a $50 subscription to xbox live, and then drop another $15 for rechargable batteries for my controller. I'm so glad the 360 saved me so much money over the Ps3!
- inactive, on 07/13/2008, -3/+7First of all, have you never heard of router or switch? They're probably cheaper and better than the WiFi adapter, especially since wired connections are always better than wireless. The $50 subscription is for a year, and anyone who has tried XBL knows the advantages (and why it's worth 14 cents per day). In short, you fail at your comparison.
- Dgen_X, on 07/13/2008, -2/+6All those wires? huh?
The Video output...yes...Power...yes, and the network cable (which is optional...as is a wireless adapter)
Maybe the complaint is about the optional wired controllers? I'm lost
Back when I first got an XBox I ran a 50 foot network cable under the floor from the office to the living room...it has worked perfectly since. - sodade, on 07/13/2008, -2/+6you mean $10 hub
- Outsanity, on 07/13/2008, -2/+6If anything, they need to drop the price to $99.
- Zpanzer, on 07/13/2008, -1/+5or you can just stay with the 299$ and use it, like I do.
- earchew, on 07/13/2008, -0/+3The price drop was just announced my MS. They are horrible at keeping secrets. Hopefully they have some for E3. Last years show was pretty lackluster.
- Jenadae, on 07/13/2008, -0/+3Blah blah blah blah blah, lower prices mean less money spent and more competition. End of story.
- ilovethissite, on 07/13/2008, -0/+3Microsoft is making a big mistake if they leave the Xbox 360 Arcade at $279. It will leave Nintendo still with the most inexpensive game system. Microsoft and Sony still don't get that Nintendo has been selling so well because it has been the most affordable to consumers.
The Xbox 360 Arcade needs to be $199, its been almost 3 years since the Xbox 360 was released. - nobelief, on 07/13/2008, -5/+8being able to sit on your couch and playing on a 42" HDTV without hassle, priceless.
- inactive, on 07/13/2008, -0/+3Ya... That's not the only reason the Wii is selling so well.
- djruden, on 07/14/2008, -1/+4Why do u gotta sound so vindictive? Chill out bro, PC has exclusives too. Wanna play WoW? or any MMO for that matter, better stick with PC gaming. Is Spore gonna be on 360? I'm not thinking so but I might be wrong.
I don't care because I own both and since it's a Vista PC, it plays well with my 360 when it comes to streaming music and movies etc. - ronaldmonster, on 07/13/2008, -0/+3As of today all 20 gig models (not 60, they basically pulled a Sony) are $299.99. The 60 gig models will start coming soon.
- inactive, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2Common != "come on"
- jman583, on 07/13/2008, -11/+13Bioshock 360: $30
Bioshock PS3: $60
Xbox 360 Wired Controller: $30
Xbox 360 Wireless Controller: $40
Playstation 3 Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller: $50
I am too.
Oh, and if you have only one ethernet port just get a 30 dollar router to split the ethernet. - inactive, on 07/13/2008, -1/+3You're right except for the Japanese exclusives part. Other than Final Fantasy, which likely won't be out for another 2 years, the JRPGs are on the 360.
- rowlodge, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2i like this guy
- redfred18t, on 07/13/2008, -1/+3Haha, I actually chuckled.
- sstephenson, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2I work at Blockbuster, we had already received downloads that the price drop is Sunday as well.
- digglet08, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2Not to sound ignorant, but who doesn't have a 360 (that WILL after a 50$ price cut). 50$ difference? You could have just not bought a single last gen xbox game and you would have saved enough to make up the difference and buy one (back when they came out)!!!!
- psibladeZX, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1I saw this at Best Buy two days ago.... it's true... sucks for me since I bought it for 400 when it came out... no red ring of death though... haha
- KingGoonie, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1Uh... every single ad in the Sunday morning paper... at least in NYC... has it for $300. Not just target. Circuit City has it for $299.99 (and doens't really even make a big deal out of it, I thought it would be in big bold letters popping out at you... but no its exacly the same as all the prior weeks, same tiny print only adding the "now" or "new price" in tiny words next to it... Anyway CC has it for that price in circular, best buy, etc... Its the new price. Perido.
- noerrorsfound, on 07/13/2008, -0/+1Hi, Gob.

You seem pretty grumpy... MS must've done something pretty terrible to your whole family to garner such a hate... Can you tell us why you hate MS so much? Did Gates made you his biatch by dancing for $1 at your local stip club? Or did he spank you while making you play Halo 3 and saying "Halo 3 is my daddy" at the same time? Or did he make you upgrade to Vista on your Windows Me system with 512MB of ram? Im curious... Its gotta be something traumatic like that otherwise you must just be a fanboy... -
