- username9000, on 01/07/2008, -16/+54xbox live also hit 10 million. That is amazing. Microsoft has won the online battle as far as consoles are concerned. It is over.
- tekrat, on 01/07/2008, -5/+38So my Xbox360 will be my game system AND cable box? Cool and scary at the same time.
- Myztry, on 01/07/2008, -2/+32Oh. British Telecom.... not Bit Torrent...
- truspect0r, on 01/07/2008, -5/+31I'm not too keen on turning my x-Box ON more than 3 hrs.
- as9332, on 01/07/2008, -2/+28This is good news. Now if only they would lower the price for the bigger HDD. I LOVE my 360 but $150+ for a 120Gb is ridiculous. And $100 for the wifi adapter? Where do they get off pricing products like that? Even the PSP has built in wifi.
- truspector, on 01/07/2008, -18/+42Considering the PS3rdplace, over a full year later, STILL can not accomodate in game chat, messaging, and game invites, really worries me about the future of my $600 dust collector's online infrastructure. My guess is that Home is going to be another piece of crap in the toilet that is PSN.
- xdeliriumx, on 01/07/2008, -5/+17That's funny, I tighten when my TV gets the RRoD.
- truspect0r, on 01/07/2008, -5/+17LOL
- republikdh, on 01/07/2008, -5/+16This is the dumbest, most closeminded comment Ive ever read.
There are so many exclusive titles beyond Halo that 'keep the 360 a float' not to mention the multiplatform titles. XBOX has the deepest gaming library bar none. - saysomestuff, on 01/07/2008, -2/+13Probably not a bad thing considering your spelling
- truspect0r, on 01/07/2008, -3/+13That's the problem. Everyone has the RRoD and I'm not sure when mine is. Got the signs already, random hangs.
- fuhcough, on 01/07/2008, -0/+10no kidding. i hardly even play halo anymore. can't seem to peel myself away from cod4. :)
- Harbinger67, on 01/07/2008, -2/+12Who really cares if any particular "battle" is over? I'd rather have competition than have anyone win anything outright. But I suppose fanboyism has never really taken the consumer into account, has it.
- chris9902, on 01/07/2008, -0/+10Xbox's sold: 17.7 million
Halo 3: 8.1 million
So I guess the other 9.6 million people haven't unpacked theirs yet or something. - SirBotchness, on 01/07/2008, -4/+13Wow you guys are retarded
http://www.whysanity.net/monos/ahouse.html
good try though. - byronm, on 01/07/2008, -5/+14My xbox is on an average of 10 hours a day year round. I use it with Windows Media Center as an extender and it has worked fine since launch. I have had ONE RRoD and that was on an xbox with over 5,000 hours of tv/gaming from launch as well. Mind you if its not watching tv, playing games its playing music/pictures or something so its always on. BTW, ms fixed the RROD issue free and its since had another 300 hours of use.
- Bobtastic, on 01/07/2008, -5/+13No doubt that live has sucked over the past few weeks. Hopefully it comes back up soon.
However, I definitely message in the middle of games, but certainly not with the on screen keyboard. I use either voice chat/messages or my messenger kit, so I have a thumb-QWERTY keyboard to type with. That makes it all nice and simple. And fast, which is by far the most important thing to worry about while I'm breaking faces in COD4. - leighj, on 01/07/2008, -18/+26Uh Oh Now I'll loose TV with the red rings of death too?!?! I may have to learn to read again!
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -3/+10Online services go down occasionally. Perhaps you should be aware of this? I'd rather have a good full-featured service that's only rarely offline versus one with slightly better uptime and lacking in every way imaginable (ahem PS3's online "service").
- byronm, on 01/07/2008, -5/+11Get over the xbl crash crap. Its worked for me - just a tad slow and i've seen much worse from other "Services" that cost a lot more.
- munkyxtc, on 01/07/2008, -2/+8"I would rather use straight ethernet, and not risk losing some online game due to signal interference..." So would most everyone else, but the fact still remains running network cable through walls and floors isn't feasible for most people. If you PC/router is 100 feet in the other direction and 2 floors above your xbox it's easier to just get the wifi card and call it a day
- pegisys, on 01/07/2008, -0/+5yes but Halo 3 sold over 8 million copies and I'm willing to be the majority of the people who bought the game was to play online.
- tman84, on 01/07/2008, -5/+10i think Microsoft needs to work on fixing Xbox Live before they start any new ventures
- nirav72, on 01/07/2008, -2/+7Not! Gears of War is still one of the top rank games still being played on the 360. This is according to the top 10 list.
- Christbait, on 01/07/2008, -0/+5Atrocious? Maybe you need to actually get an Xbox 360 or keep it away from the radiator, loading times were 6 seconds tops, for me.
- dillonstars, on 01/07/2008, -1/+6I wasn't interested in BT Vision and i'm not interested in this. Why should I pay a subscription on top of my TV license when I can get HD freeview for free.... PlayTV is what I'm waiting for....
- RoroCo, on 01/07/2008, -2/+7But if those games had online features, I would still be playing them - maybe even buying addition content for them as well. As it is, I keep going back to games like CoD4 and trading in the single player games I own.
- Bobtastic, on 01/07/2008, -3/+8Yes, because Bioshock was awful, wasn't it?
- novaprosp3kt, on 01/07/2008, -0/+4I suppose this will be a service similiar to BT Vision, So you'll probably have to pay the fee, sky + or sky HD works for me as a dvr.
- pcpimpster, on 01/07/2008, -1/+5Oops, meant to reply here: "And $100 for the wifi adapter?" Seriously, buy a WIFI access point for 40$ bucks, sit it close to your 360 and run a cable to it. Save 60$ then give half to me.
- Falldog, on 01/07/2008, -10/+14Nothing is over as long as the other party is still building and growing. They've just got farther to catch up. (and I say this as a xbox fan lol)
- EricMiIIer, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4Too busy playing COD4
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -0/+4You say it has all the same features as Live, you just can't do it in game... Well then what the ***** is the point? It's clear it's not nearly as well integrated or consistent than Xbox Live is, and I'm not sure wtf you're talking about because Xbox Live has outstanding uptime. I can literally only remember two occasions of it being down for any significant time (including this Christmas).
- Matteos, on 01/07/2008, -0/+4Begun, the battle for the living room has.
- ketha, on 01/07/2008, -0/+4The battle for the Living Room has only just begun.
- amneosis, on 01/07/2008, -3/+7Same here, and not more than one hour per Forza 2 session.
- Whaines, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3You're talking about the PS3, right?
- btgoss, on 01/07/2008, -4/+7Wow... Never have so many missed a joke... MacParrot you are either an old fart like myself, or a person who likes the classics of drunken, teen, sex comedies..... and the rest of you should be ashamed for digging that comment down... FOR SHAME!!!!
- charliekwalker, on 01/07/2008, -1/+4I immediately thought of BT the trance/techno guy who did the soundtrack to the movie Monster with Charlize Theron...
- phronko, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3Yeah, last time I checked, the internet is accessible all over the world. So "us" isn't really the right word there.
- MacParrot, on 01/07/2008, -5/+8Holy crap! Not ONE of you have seen Animal House?
- Myonosken, on 01/07/2008, -2/+5RTFA
- nirav72, on 01/07/2008, -5/+8WTF BT? Isn't BT = British Telecom?
- ketha, on 01/07/2008, -1/+4Until there's a 'Digg UK' specific filter you just take it like a man. UK users make up the second biggest proportion of digg users.... (that's a guess but I bet i'm right)
- CollapseControl, on 01/07/2008, -6/+9You shouldn't talk ***** about LIVE going "down every time any amount of users go online" because that isn't totally true. But you can have fun on the PSN with the very few people on there, while we XBL users have the majority of the online gaming nation covered. Even with the very slight errors, do to the overwhelming success of XBL, it is still light years ahead of the PSN. The PS3's online is a step above the Wii's but it is still a laughing stock compared to the 360's.
The PSN is so lacking that I wouldn't even waste a connection port with it. - MacParrot, on 01/07/2008, -3/+6Thanks for the link. I'm amazed that these guys spend so much time in front of their TVs and didn't recognize the quote.
- pcpimpster, on 01/07/2008, -1/+4Buried for not even mentioning COD4, oh wait, that’s an MP game and doesn’t fit into your little brain and its obfuscated points.
To say MP is meaningless is just plain dumb. - Christbait, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3BREAKING NEWS: there is life out there.... outside of America.
- ChildeRoland420, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3You mean PSN?
- pcpimpster, on 01/07/2008, -1/+4"And $100 for the wifi adapter?" Seriously, buy a WIFI access point for 40$ bucks, sit beside your 360 and run a cable to it. Save 60$ then give half to me.
