- dunlop, on 10/11/2007, -3/+58Nice, now I can annoy my friends with longer messages when they are trying to watch a movie.
- Azimuth1, on 10/11/2007, -7/+58Give the 360 a browser and I'll buy this.
- daridave, on 10/11/2007, -7/+56OMG can you guys NOT complain for 10 seconds!?
This is nice and I don't find it too expensive. Besides, I don't think I'm going to buy more than one, anyway... if I'm playing multi-controller multiplayer, I don't think I need to TYPE something to my friend standing next to me... - HPCELarry, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19If you read it you'll note that it comes with a headset as well. Sounds like a good buy for $30
- Typhoon2009, on 10/11/2007, -7/+22Considering the wireless PS3 keyboard from Logitech is like 80, this is a pretty good deal. It gives you the essentials along with an actual controller, and it looks comfortable enough.
- isuisorisuaint, on 10/11/2007, -7/+17thanks for the blog spam....direct link: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360messengerkit/
- Nicksname1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10it's usb so it probably wouldn't be to hard to get working.
- KibibyteBrain, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13Or make it work with the PC 360 controllers too. Such a keyboard would be perfect for a media center PC.
- Piroon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10I guarantee this will be double the price in the UK.
- petemcfraser, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/viewer.aspx?productId=1884&assetTypeId=1&shotId=0
That's some high-quality resolution there, boys. WTF! - Blizaine, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I'm going to look like a real tool with this plugged into the side of my GH-II Guitar...
- sinembarg0, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Make it so I can use MSN Messenger from a child account, or make it so I can change my account to an adult account. Apparently, if ann account was creted as a child account, it will always be a child account, even in 70 years when I'm clearly no longer a child.
- phuzzy3d, on 10/11/2007, -7/+13Where the ***** is my mouse and keyboard so I can finally kill these little kids in Halo.
- sUGArDawg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5B/c a "***** keyboard" won't fit on the 360 controller, duh.
- ReCkLeSsX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4If Microsoft would ever update my "child account," I'd be interested. But I can't use the MSN feature, so this is fairly pointless for me.
- CaesarBlue, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5OMFG not another ***** headset. Seriously M$oft throws in a headset with all their products now a days. I have four headsets already. A Gold Xbox live subscription comes with a headset. Vision Camera comes with a headset. All the versions, minus core, of XBOX 360 come with a headset. I dont know if they are using the cheap headsets to jack up prices, or if someone just ordered too many of them, but i need to find another use for these headsets.
- louiedog, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3If you want to use a keyboard, feel free. Any USB keyboard should work. I have an old IBM keyboard plugged into my 360 right now because I just setup a live account for someone. Also, go outside and feed some birds or something to calm down.
- Senseicads, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5I can't honestly say I would have a use for this...all my msging is done via the headset. I just aint sure why someone would buy this over a headset?
- coheedcollapse, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5You know you don't have to buy a bluetooth keyboard branded for use with the PS3, right? You don't even need to use bluetooth. My PS3 is close enough to where I play it to just plug in a cheapo $10 USB keyboard.
This is a cool toy, but you shouldn't be reasoning it's price with PS3 accessories. - DoctaStooge, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Typhoon, the chatpad is actually just an add-on for the 360 controller. Maybe that's why the $30 seems a little much.
- ExSlashdotter, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3You could make CALLS on your cell phone way before we had SMS. Doesn't mean its not popular now...
- louiedog, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3To chat with people using live messenger. It'd be handy in Viva Pinata if you like to name the little buggers. Hell, maybe they'll bring Typing of the Dead to live arcade.
I won't be getting one, but I can see why some people might want it. - ShangoKai, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It's a very reasonable price if you get a headset AND keyboard controller. I find the old headset to meet all of my needs for now though.
- olddirtycr, on 10/11/2007, -6/+8a wireless bluetooth controller has a very good reason to cost a lot... A little plastic adapter that plugs into the top of your controller does not.
- JoCliMe, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Also, you COULD just plug in a usb keyboard (or a ps2 one with a converter) and use that...but I guess...where's the fun in that? (also I just realized not everyone sits close to their screen when they play.
- sUGArDawg, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Wow, gotta show everyone how stupid you are with 2 identical posts, eh?
- woodyear99, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Seems like a good deal can't wait for this to come out. Yeah yeah we know we can use a usb keyboard but this thing is compact and integrated into ur controller when u plug it in. No switching to a keyboard....amen
- MasterThief117, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Looks good, but how will I connect my headset to it?
- Ac1d, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"p.s. how the hell did they manage to make a controller more unwieldy than the original x-box controller?"
Maybe you've just got weird hands, because to me its the best controller I've used in terms of comfort. - andydumi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3There are other options for PS3, such as the Mad Catz mini keyboard, which is just like this one, or any full size keyboard, bluetooth, wireless or whatnot.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Thanks for the direct link. I hate blog spam too, especially where it adds nothing to the story at all.
- HolyChimp, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Then why did he ask?
- HolyChimp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Judging from all the "Why not just sell a regular keyboard and not charge so much for it WTF!!!!111!" comments, a lot of people don't know they can use a regular keyboard.
- HolyChimp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I've got an old Gyration wireless keyboard that I acquired from work. It's tiny and works great with the 360.
- HolyChimp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Because the headset plugs into the controller not the console so it doesn't matter if it's wireless or not?
Especially when there is a £35 premium to move my head more than a metre away from my controller while I'm playing! - HolyChimp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1~20% to currency fluctuations?
- ButchyFuego, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You don't know what to do with all the headsets eh? Ask yourself these three words...
Will it blend? - FAPmaster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Did they ever make a patch allowing peoples under 18 to use the chat feature on their consoles? Trixy360 said there would be a fix to this issue, but I don't think its out yet.
- ricperry1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Well, for one, the shape (contour) at the headphone jack is a bit different. The other thing to remember is that if you're using the wireless headset (why wouldn't you be if you're using a wireless controller?) then you don't even need the new headset.
- jacksons98, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I have a standard USB wireless keyboard and mouse for the PS3 that I bought for $30 from Tiger Direct and it works fine.
- mousy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yeah. When it gets to the UK that is.
- Shaflugi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Well if they come free and you have too many, you COULD just throw them out or give them away. I think it's a great idea to give out headsets. This way it's more likely that people on Xbox Live will be using them.
- GeneralFailure0, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It'd be nice to have as an extra headset for a second player, but I find the wired headsets aren't very durable. My first one died for seemingly no reason, I didn't step on it or anything like that, so I bought the wireless.
- MCHampster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1This headset is different. The hookup for the headset at the bottom of the Chatpad is different than the bottom of the controller. You won't be able to use the standard headset with this pad. For some reason, I am at a complete loss trying to remember why (they gave some technical reason).
- HolyChimp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yes, he does!
- GeneralFailure0, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I accidentally put in my real birthday when I made my account last year, and now that I'm 17 it's still a child account...
- knodi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Now all we need is a good MMO for go along with it.
- GeneralFailure0, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Because it's only $10 more and comes with a headset.
- smergs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You don't have to sit close. I use a wireless Logitech keyboard that I had laying around. I already had the keyboard and just decided to try it one day. Works Great!
- brivix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1so was the network adapter, and I can't get it to work with my computer. for 100 bucks, you think it'd work with an NES!
