- inactive, on 10/04/2008, -9/+128This is a good thing for us consumers. Stop being fanboys, it´s not like MS or Sony pay you to be marketing drones. This can only mean a PS3 price cut is on its way to all of us. You hear that? ALL of us. I love my Xbox, but I also love high quality movies, so I´m looking closely at the PS3, for it´s Bluray player.
So how about stop acting like children and be glad that there is competition. - itbaza, on 10/04/2008, -8/+94price is big advantage..
- TiMMY8765, on 10/04/2008, -12/+65breaking news: product on sale outsells similar product not on sale!
- inactive, on 10/04/2008, -69/+102Microsoft will just have more 360s to service in the coming months...
- dsmx, on 10/04/2008, -9/+36[citation needed]
- dweast, on 10/04/2008, -4/+30i hate this "peter moore" era of gaming. i dont own stock or work for microsoft. i play video games, why the ***** should i care about number of consoles sold???
- coheedcollapse, on 10/04/2008, -2/+24I totally agree. I finally picked up a 360 recently and I enjoy it a lot - BUT - you get FAR more for the money with the PS3 if you're going to use it. I find no problems with the 360 since I already have an HD player, a system that I play online multiplayer with, and an ethernet connection nearby, but if you're planning on upgrading stuff or getting any of that, it ends up adding up very quickly.
- Darkknight512, on 10/04/2008, -5/+27Woot, price wars!
- StealthSnake832, on 10/04/2008, -10/+32Vgchartz is a horrible and unreliable source.
- FujiwaraTofu, on 10/04/2008, -19/+40You'll pass because your PS3 rocks? That has absolutely nothing to do with how good of a purchase a 360 is. Both are good, but if your fanboyism stops you from buying a fun entertainment system, then that's up to you. Oh, and you missed the period key—I'm afraid those are commas.
- McDeath, on 10/04/2008, -24/+44***** microsoft!!! My 360 took another crap on me, and now its not reading most of my games.
Microsoft wants around $ 100 in order to repair it. - SpudgeBoy, on 10/04/2008, -0/+19You are correct. These arguments are silly. Anybody that cares, is most likely a gamer, so they should be excited about any good system or game and all three consoles are good with good games. I go to my friends house and play his Xbox. He comes to my house and plays my PS3 and I plan on getting the kid a Wii (so I can play it too, of course). And all three of us have kid ass PCs for playing those games.
But, with this price drop, I might get an Xbox. It would allow me to practice the games me and my friend play at home.
So, everybody have fun and kick booty! - Krodis, on 10/04/2008, -3/+22because 120,000/2 = 60,000 and 120,000 + 60,000 = 180,000?
- inactive, on 10/04/2008, -23/+41http://digg.com/gaming_news/PS2_Outsells_Xbox360_f ...
because im sick of these overblown articles - h4mx0r, on 10/04/2008, -13/+31I don't care. Wipeout HD is still on the PS3.
- asskey, on 10/04/2008, -1/+18Force it to RRoD by overheating it. They'll repair it ;)
- colincornaby, on 10/04/2008, -9/+25The new ones are actually a brand new fully 65 nm CPU and GPU model that are fixed.
- Rabbittt, on 10/04/2008, -29/+43Yes, and Kia outsells Mercedes.
- ChildeRoland420, on 10/04/2008, -7/+21I've heard too many trustworthy people with the newer Boxes complain about RRoD to believe that statement.
- fyreboltx, on 10/04/2008, -10/+24I know I'll get burried for this but I have to wonder... how many people are buying an Xbox 360 now to replace one that's crapped out on them. I know MS fixes the RRoDs but I think 360's have had other hardware problems too.
- Magnolit, on 10/04/2008, -17/+31Just give me my LittleBigPlanet and I don't care about sale numbers.
- chaon93, on 10/04/2008, -2/+153 year only covers RROD problems, otherwise its 1 year.
- inactive, on 10/04/2008, -8/+20I'm not a fanboy. I own a 360 myself, but I'm just speaking the truth.
- havocjaw, on 10/04/2008, -7/+19Wait, PS3 has Vader.... Sold
- inactive, on 10/04/2008, -1/+12I didn't even say anything about the PS3...
- bakatrinh, on 10/04/2008, -1/+11I'm telling you guys, $200 bucks for a 1080p gaming console is a steal. Even if I'm not a gamer, I would buy it just so I can watch the movies and TV shows I download from bittorrent on my TV over the network. Downloading 720p/1080p movies and then watching it on the Xbox is just an amazing experience. It's gonna be even better later on when the Netflix feature gets added.
- spacebuddy, on 10/04/2008, -27/+37PS3 is a much better machine. Spend the extra bucks and get something that works.
- Dwebtron, on 10/04/2008, -1/+11@ octodd:
if you're buying a ps3 and hate the 360 so much.... why not buy games for the ps3? - ToddSchishler, on 10/04/2008, -14/+24Pre-ordered LBP today.
So thanks, but no thanks. - Fleminator, on 10/04/2008, -6/+16It's a tough call between the two. Agreed 100% that it depends on what you already have.
according to newegg...
Xbox 360 w/ 20 GB: $259.99
MS Wifi adaptor: $82.99
MS Live (12 mo): $38.92
Bluray: n/a
=====================
Total: $381.90
PS3: $399.99
WiFi: included
Online Gaming: included
BluRay: included
=====================
Total: $399.99 - MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/04/2008, -1/+10It's simple economics. People buy more if the price is lower.
- mdoom, on 10/04/2008, -1/+10the headline says by 50%, not 2:1.... and 180k is 150% of 120k...
- coheedcollapse, on 10/04/2008, -5/+14Yeah, and you have to remember that if you ever want to upgrade the hard drive in the 360 you'll be paying out the ass for MS's proprietary crap while if you want to upgrade the PS3 hard drive you just have to find a nice deal on a laptop hard drive.
I was a bit disappointed at that, although I can't really see myself filling up the 360's hard drive any time soon. - VVCephei, on 10/04/2008, -2/+10I Own a 360, so let me be the first to say...
I don't care. If you like ps3, that's fantastic, Ps3 Is good. As for me, I Like my 360... so can we quit with the pointless fighting? - coheedcollapse, on 10/04/2008, -5/+13Although I would have agreed with "better game library" a year ago, I don't know if I'd agree with it completely now. Although I'm having an absolute ball picking up used 360 games on half.com for $10 each shipping included, I still have more PS3 games that I truly enjoy (although, honestly, many of those are also on the 360).
The more reliable online service is bunk. It might me more accessible, but I've had literally no problems at all with the PS3's online capabilities. It's always been fast, lag-free or nearly lag-free, and very seldom is it down. - strictnein, on 10/04/2008, -6/+14How about you stop being a ***** leech on the rest of us, get a job, and pay for your games? Why someone above the age of 13 would be proud of being a scab on society is beyond me.
It's this simple: if a game is worth playing it's worth paying for. - voomfoo, on 10/04/2008, -4/+12360 destroys ps3 on game sales already.
- inactive, on 10/04/2008, -1/+9Because game manufacturers care, and they are the one making games for you to enjoy.
- tigertee, on 10/04/2008, -0/+8i dont honestly know why people stopped caring about playing games and just became more concerened with market sales figures to justify there outlook on life....
- 400zone, on 10/04/2008, -1/+9Who said 2-1? The headline states that 360's outsold the PS3 by 50%. 50% of 120,000 is 60,000, which is how much the PS3 was outsold by.
- inactive, on 10/04/2008, -2/+10"and a more reliable online service"
Live has been down more than PSN - AgmLauncher, on 10/04/2008, -1/+92-1 would be 100% more, the title says 50% more. 50% more than 1 would be 1.5, not 2. 50% more than 120,000 is 180,000.
- Fallout911, on 10/04/2008, -1/+8OVER 9000!!
- mrcoldcow, on 10/04/2008, -8/+15I think the big thing to note here is that more xbox360s were sold in Japan than PS3s.
Wow... - ErickStevenson, on 10/05/2008, -0/+7Good for Xbox, I don't get this hate against this console, yah it had problems before but they do have great games. If you can afford all the consoles why not, they have their strengths and not one console is better than the other. If you like the games buy it, you don't HAVE to buy Xbox 360 or PS3 or WIi.... Fanboyism is a really bad disease.
- c010rb1indusa, on 10/04/2008, -4/+11I agree, I'll admit the game library is a bit thin, but as a media center, there is nothing better. I can stream files from my comp flawlessly including HD content, and even the upscaled DVDs look great on the ps3.
- doubledmateo, on 10/05/2008, -2/+9Man, I own a PS3, and I must have it plugged in wrong, because when I turn it on I don't see the huge quality difference so many people refer to. It's quieter than my 360, I'll give it that. I have yet to see a game on it that really puts anything on the 360 to shame though. Ported games nearly always have a slight edge on the 360 (nothing real significant, but if I had to declare one over the other it would be the 360 nearly every time) and so far it's exclusives, haven't done anything that I hadn't seen in a 360 exclusive.
The only definitive differences are the exclusive games, and the lack of blu ray (which I really enjoy, but I'm still a bit skeptical about how well the format will do in the long run. Price is still a huge barrier for such a resolution upgrade.) on the 360.
Sure the PS3 makes a great media center, but isn't that what your PC is for? I don't see that as being much of a reason to choose it over the competition, especially considering the prices. - Spire3660, on 10/04/2008, -0/+7Its still FAR overpriced for a Wifi dongle.
- inactive, on 10/04/2008, -1/+7I like sex, but masturbation is a much more accessible method of sexual release. Besides, the cost and maintenance of keeping a healthy sex life is just not worth it.
- Acidictadpole, on 10/04/2008, -3/+9The reply button is -> that way.
