- jacksons98, on 03/03/2009, -1/+71It made sense for the first year there was no PS3 or Wii option. So either they waited or made games for X360.
- TangentThought, on 03/03/2009, -3/+45So, to break into the Western video game market, you have to make games for Western console with a Western mindset? I could've told them that years ago.
- 3sicasity, on 03/04/2009, -5/+39i thought dead rising and lost planet were exclusive because the ps3 wasn't out yet. Aren't they making dead rising 2 for the ps3 as well?
- Brows, on 03/04/2009, -5/+29ya, they released two next gen games on the only next gen system available at that time. brilliant, marketing geniuses way to go Capcom.
- dbldn, on 03/04/2009, -5/+25Famous last words.
- xexen, on 03/04/2009, -6/+213..... 2.....1..... RRoD
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -4/+15keep telling yourself that
- johanrocks, on 03/04/2009, -3/+13That would be nice, but the problem is that multi-console development tends to cost much more money and, sometimes (especially with smaller development companies), that cost can not be justified when considering the investment to return ratio on the various platforms.
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -9/+18You want to break in the western market? replace androgynous RPG pretty boys, with steroid packed action manly man.
- danwallace, on 03/04/2009, -1/+9Have you seen Ryu these days? I think you're on to something.
- danwallace, on 03/04/2009, -0/+8But Keiji Inafune wants everyone to know he's smarter than you!
- zapass, on 03/04/2009, -7/+15oh... a miracle!
but can it play KILLZONE 2?
nah - bergur1, on 03/04/2009, -2/+9Release video games on an existing system or a non-existent system? Derp de hurp!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Capcom_games
Capcom isn't about picking winners, it's about appealing to all sides of the gamer spectrum. This list shows that they have released a plethora of games on most if probably not ALL historically relevant consoles for the past 2-3decades. Sure, the Xbox has a few more titles but the PS3 has a planned Lost Planet/Dead Rising 2 release, the Wii has a shabby looking Dead Rising on the horizon, and all three consoles received games such as Bionic Command Re-mixed, SF4, and Megaman 9.
Again, Capcom isn't about picking a side, they are about making kickass games for everyone. - inactive, on 03/04/2009, -1/+7Chris Redfield too had a bit of the ol' roid treatment.
- Zap2, on 03/04/2009, -3/+9I don't know...Wii sells pretty darn well here!
Its more about the games then location of the console makers I think - Jdshald, on 03/04/2009, -1/+6who cares whether or not they picked xbox or ps3. this just fuels the console wars more.
- Zamfir, on 03/04/2009, -1/+6I thought I just saw you fly by my window!
- mrhedges, on 03/04/2009, -1/+6Bet is in the past tense here. They're a multiplatform developer now.
- jman583, on 03/04/2009, -1/+5Or they are about making money.
- positron, on 03/04/2009, -0/+4Good. Now, release a ***** Monster Hunter game for NA!
- bjs3171, on 03/04/2009, -2/+6RE5 demo is pretty damn clunky.
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -9/+12wah wah. thats not an acceptable excuse when others (ala infiniti ward) have said they had no problem developing for Sony's console.
- petebot, on 03/04/2009, -1/+4Can't wait for Dead Rising 2...
- bigbadgoat, on 03/04/2009, -3/+6poor?
maybe people have larger priorities than gaming, or have more diverse interests in gaming. Why spend hundreds of dollars on extra consoles, controllers, add-ons, and who the ***** knows for a handful of exclusive when one console gets you 80-85% of the best games?
I'm a game developer, I work for a large studio with hundreds of developers, we live for gaming. Most of the developers I know have a 360 or a PS3, not both. - dlequyer, on 03/04/2009, -0/+3what good games has capcom even made lately?
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -1/+4I can't believe somebody who can't form a proper sentence is bitching about a title with a word or two perhaps incorrect. Man. I had a far more difficult time deciphering what Yage was trying to say, rather than the title.
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -0/+2haha?
- peters1023, on 03/04/2009, -1/+3@Yage2006
"That/s frakking terrible grammar, Try to read aloud what you are about to post should avoid such things.
I don't even understand what you were trying to say. Was like listening to a drunk rambling,"
That's frakking (is this a word?), Try reading your posts aloud, it would help you avoid making yourself look like me; either someone who doesn't speak English well, or doesn't at all, and relies completely on online translators. I don't even understand what you were trying to say. (Good job, this sentence was correct.) Reading your post was like listening to a rambling drunk.
There Yage, I fixed it for you.
PS I'm giving you the finger right now. - staticneuron, on 03/05/2009, -0/+2Yes.
Simply put, for ant FP title that goes MP, it would be advertised at a different level. But if you have been a gamer long enough, you wouldn't even need to ask that question.
In the last generation there were several MP iterations of popular titles. But as you can see the titles did NOT sell as much as it would on one console. What you need to understand is that there hast to be a cost benefit to making a title MP. So if a game sells one million on one console then 200k on the next, then it may not have even been worth making it MP, depending on how much the title cost.
Making titles MP does not solve every issue. And the sheer fact that the biggest selling titles on each console are exclusives, in the face of so MANY great MP titles, is not a fluke or a mishap.
Gamers bank on exclusives, because they always feel they are of better quality. When given a choice between a known MP title and a Known Exclusive most people would still opt for the exclusive. The numbers don't lie. - inactive, on 03/06/2009, -0/+2Yeah but unfortunately that crappy J-Pop boy band song somehow made it onto Street Fighter 4 overseas.
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -4/+6I'd say your days are now numbered in the single digits.
- strictnein, on 03/04/2009, -0/+2@gordmoo
Did you actually believe what you wrote when you wrote it? Because that's just inane.
I also love the use of [citation needed], and then you go out and list a whole bunch of baseless assumptions. - staticneuron, on 03/04/2009, -1/+3Sigh.... quick question... the highest selling games of this generation overall, are they MP or Platform Exclusives? Now looking at each consoles numbers, which titles have sold the most for each respective consoles? Exclusive or MP?
The argument that MP instantly means a higher overall total and the best money making solution is wrong. And it is proven time and time again.
Next thing, Lost planet had a horrible story and it is a shooter. The Japanese either like games with a great story, or one without a story at all. And they normally dislike shooters both third and first person. The only subculture there is SSshmups and that genre is less received in the western markets. - bigbadgoat, on 03/04/2009, -3/+5I have, it's not too bad actually.
It is easier on the xbox 360 though. - inactive, on 03/04/2009, -0/+2EX is a series on it's own. Street Fighter EX had 3 versions. EX2 had 2 versions, and EX3 had 1 (so far) :P
- petebot, on 03/04/2009, -0/+2No, I actually gave up on the game after like 6 hours or something.
You kind of have to level up a bit before you can accomplish a lot of the tasks. You can restart the game at the same level you died at too, so yyou don't really lose your progress which is nice. You may have to play through more than once to get all the timing down, and you certainly can't do everything the game has to offer in your first runthrough. But it has great replayability and hey who doesn't love sticking a shower head into a zombie's head. - djruden, on 03/04/2009, -1/+3Where were they on the Atari Jaguar?
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -1/+3Well whatever these people who pick only one console need to comfort themselves with, that's cool bigbad. However, when I worked for a game company here in Canadaland, only the fanboys at work would fight over which console's better, when in reality all have their pros and cons. Picking one is merely limiting yourself.
- WrldsWrstDigger, on 03/04/2009, -1/+3Street Fighter IV is awesome on the 360
- strictnein, on 03/04/2009, -0/+2Intellivision, biatch!
- Elranzer, on 03/04/2009, -1/+3Sorry, but if you have a job, it's not hard to own all three consoles. If you're a game developer and can only afford one console, you're probably one of those minimum wage earners at EA or Vicarious Visions (and I use the term "game developer" loosely with the latter).
- Kanten, on 03/05/2009, -0/+1They were 360 only at the time because 360 was the ONLY new console on the market, christ.
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -2/+3ATTN Capcom: Megaman Legends 3, please.
- strictnein, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Am I the only one who greatly enjoyed the demo, but found the full game to be boring and slow?
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1then you're a game developer who happens to be a fanboy instead of a game developer. Yay you!
And sorry, but just because you have hobbies doesn't make the PS3, the Wii, or the XBOX any better than any of the others. You're missing the point, but seeing as you work for EA, I shouldn't be surprised. We all know how awesome that place to work for is. ;) - Nath2k8, on 03/08/2009, -0/+1lol
- kevro, on 03/04/2009, -6/+7I would love to see Lost Planet on the 3DO.
- Elranzer, on 03/04/2009, -1/+2Oddly, there's not as many JRPGs on the PS3 as there is on Xbox 360. PS3 exclusively has Disgaea 3 and Valkirya Chronicles, that's about it.
- paulsmith288, on 03/08/2009, -0/+1yep. as soon as 360 came out bye bye original xbox.
