Sure other games like COD4, look mighty interesting, but with games like Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash, and not finished Metroid Prime 3 yet Halo 3 is one of the only games that I want to play on another console, much less make me want to buy one.
I don't care what PC snobs say, HALO's multiplayer is extremely balanced, and people get drawn into the single player because of its story (I never really did but 4 player-online co-op = my mind a splode)
Playing Halo 2 splitscreen with my friends is some of the most fun I've had. Its always a toss up between Halo multiplayer and Super Smash. Smash wins, but then again it doesn't have to do splitscreen to do same screen multiplayer. - IrishLuck80, on 10/10/2007, -5/+14That's funny. I've been around FPS Shooters since the beginning. And Halo is the whole package. I started off with Wolfenstien 3D back in the day. I still play Battlefield 2 now and then. But Halo 3 looks to be perfection incarnate.

People's custom Forge settings don't just randomly appear in matchmaking. It's for custom games only. Although it would be cool to have a playlist dedicated to special Forge gametypes.

For the past 6 or so years the games I played more than any others were easily Halo and Melee. Never could decide which one I liked more, so I got a Wii for Brawl and 360 for Halo 3.

How many other next-gen games (excluding sports) allow you to play the campaign co-operatively with three other players? X-men Legends...Marvel Ultimate Alliance...maybe. (I really am not sure) But I'm pretty sure that I have yet to play a first-person shooter on a next-gen console that allows Campaign co-op with three other players. Note: We're not talking about multiplayer deathmatches...we're talking about the usually 'single-player' storyline mode.

I also have a high end pc and have logged countless hours into all the counter strikes and unreal tournaments, far cry's, oblivions and the like, and i can still say the halo series is a blast.

When people sauy that the game is over hyped, which I believe the first game was, they mean that it wasn't nearly as good as people made it out to be. That being said I have preordered the game because I think the series has come a long way since the first game.
