dugg. - briansearles, on 02/11/2009, -3/+71Yay Left 4 Dead! But how about giving us a server browser that isn't bugged/lame?
- lotar732, on 02/11/2009, -3/+66Isn't EVERY mode "survival mode" in Left 4 Dead?
- offycakes, on 02/11/2009, -1/+41I'm still confused as to why Dead Air and Death Toll were omitted from versus in the first place.
- inactive, on 02/11/2009, -0/+36Pills here
- billpyle, on 02/11/2009, -3/+32It better be free for the 360 or I'm not getting it. They can't expect me to pay money for versus maps that should have been playable the day the game was released.
- Jereso, on 02/11/2009, -0/+27You call this a zombie apocalypse? This doesn't hold a candle to the Zombie Invasion of '57. Nah, I'm just *****' ya.
- Chainheart2, on 02/11/2009, -0/+27Not omitted, just unfinished. They have to have textures to the top of buildings and climbing spots for infected to make it suitable.
- Chainheart2, on 02/11/2009, -2/+27I hope they do something to melee, otherwise this will be "find a closet and tape down right mouse button" mode.
- inactive, on 02/11/2009, -0/+22you can use the traditional steam server browser,
turn on developers console and press `, then type openserverbrowser i think, if you press o it comes up, but i never find any results in the normal internet window i have to click on custom and a bunch come up - onClipEvent, on 02/11/2009, -10/+32why the hell are you playing L4D on anything other than the PC in the first place?
- newsboys, on 02/11/2009, -0/+21That's great..but where's my scout update for Team Fortress 2? :(
- nayr74, on 02/11/2009, -2/+22It's a no brainer!
- HopeForTomorrow, on 02/11/2009, -0/+19Zoey, you should heal up.
- Chainheart2, on 02/11/2009, -1/+19Valve isn't in charge of that for the 360, it's MS.
- StreetPreacher, on 02/11/2009, -1/+18I don't really see why anyone's too excited over this. Don't get me wrong, I do love me some L4D, but what's so great about a finale that never ends (which is really all this is)?
They shoulda spent that time on new maps. And no, adding VS. to existing maps IS NOT adding new maps.
And maybe some new weapons. Where's my M249 SAW, grenade launcher, and flamethrower?! - jdmCrush, on 02/11/2009, -1/+17They better not make us XBOX 360 players pay for the update.
And they better give us more than 4 maps total- 2 is an absolute joke for a game like this. I understand it started out as a smaller mod-like project, but it's blown into a full self-supporting game that needs more maps. I'm getting quite bored with playing No Mercy 10 times a week, and Blood Harvest when I'm forced to.... - Voide, on 02/11/2009, -1/+15Lets be honest with ourselves here...have we ever seen any decent content on the 360 being let go for free? If they charge for a 30x30 pixel gamer picture, I'm guessing this wont be free.
Does that piss anybody else off?? That they charge for stupid ***** like a theme and gamer pictures. A small part of me dies everytime I see some ***** like that. - pooter654, on 02/11/2009, -0/+12reloading
- TurboBeard, on 02/11/2009, -0/+12it's $100 for the wireless adapter.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -0/+11Yeah, this addition seems pretty generic to me. It basically sounds like L4D without the whole moving from A to B part.
- Rev0lver, on 02/11/2009, -0/+11calm down, junior. Name me a developer that is as loyal to it's customers as Valve is. Find me a developer that will release as much content for free as Valve does. Thats right, you probably can't.
- Coercion, on 02/11/2009, -2/+12Left 4 Dead ftw
- BlaqReaper, on 02/11/2009, -2/+12Except, you can do more with a computer than an xbox 360. It's not like people build a gaming PC and exclusively use it for gaming. Also, you can probably build a PC that can run L4D for around $600 if less.
- fanclerks, on 02/11/2009, -0/+10*crickets chirping*
.....
boo! - spoon088, on 02/11/2009, -0/+10Wave gameplay sure sounds interesting. Nothing more fun than sitting in a corner and spaming melee.
- frsrblch, on 02/11/2009, -0/+94 campaigns with 5 stages each = 20 maps
- Shinpah, on 02/11/2009, -0/+9If you've played a lot, you'll notice that there are some differences between the versus and campaign modes, probably most noticeable in the last level of the No Mercy Campaign where the versus mode does not have a closet to hide in. The map designers/whoever probably didn't have sufficient time or knowledge about how the game would be played by the masses (and not just the testers) in versus to design a balanced set of levels.
- michaelrsa, on 02/11/2009, -1/+10Now Left 4 Dead will have everything. They have a zombie based campaign, and now will have a zombie holdout mode. They've now got everything a zombie game needs! Sweet!
- mugicha, on 02/11/2009, -2/+11OK hater, name another game released in the last year that is as innovative and fun as L4D. I'm not saying there haven't been any other ones, but games as high quality as this don't come along often. For 50 dollars you can take your girl out to the movies and get some pizza, or you can buy a high quality Valve game that (case in point TF2) you know will be supported with free content for years to come.
Mellow out and shoot some zombies dude. - Shaflugi, on 02/11/2009, -0/+8If a good graphics card costs as much as a 360, you're doing something HORRIBLY wrong. A video card that can handle L4D at max settings is 120 bucks or less.
- deweyhewson, on 02/11/2009, -0/+8Probably because they are rather imbalanced in favor of the Special Infected.
My friends and I have used modded versions of them to play versus for the past month or so, and while fun, they are a much tougher challenge for the survivors.
Hopefully they've tweaked that a bit. - sWeEtReVeNgE, on 02/11/2009, -1/+8"sending wave after wave of brain-eating monsters toward our favorite foursome"
uhhhhhh... ok - spammishking, on 02/11/2009, -0/+7I'll let you know where you went wrong... playing on split screen xbox. also this game is meant to be played in vs mode.
Also don't compare to fallout 3 -- they are two totally difference games. - monkeyfaust, on 02/11/2009, -0/+7This startled my witch.
- HolyChimp, on 02/11/2009, -0/+7He's covered wars ya know!
- Matt2k, on 02/11/2009, -0/+6They released a few REALLY good maps instead of a bunch of maps of lesser quality. Kind of like TF2. They've said exactly that. You may not agree with this strategy, and I was skeptical when I first bought Team Fortress, but I am now solidly a convert. Their sales volume and popular opinion would also seem to agree.
The fact that I can play the same "No Mercy" campaign for 80 hours over the last couple months and still enjoy the scenery and atmosphere is an impressive testament to that! The other campaigns are just as detailed. I'm really looking forward to experiencing them in other play modes.
I thought you might be trolling, but I see that you actually "Friended" Kevin Rose. So that explains a lot. - Inverno, on 02/11/2009, -0/+6http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8 ... $50 BFG 8500, it'll run L4D just fine. Enjoy.
- Dracusis, on 02/11/2009, -2/+8I feel sorry for you 360 owners, one day you'll be able to afford a real PC.
- kaijunexus, on 02/11/2009, -0/+6Burnout Paradise?
- Gizza, on 02/11/2009, -0/+6You could play L4D with a sub $200 graphics card with no problems. Though the Source engine has had updates, it is essentially still a 5 year old engine.
- spammishking, on 02/11/2009, -0/+6Yea I build my buddies computer over a year ago for ~800 and it runs L4D fine, as well as most other games. As a matter of fact my 4 year old gaming computer can play L4D.
- geniusj, on 02/11/2009, -0/+5Yes. Criterion games has had multiple significant free content releases for Burnout: Paradise on all platforms.
- lawnmowerlatte, on 02/11/2009, -0/+5If you have a wireless laptop, try rigging it to your 360 to act as a bridge. In my experience, I get about the same throughput as if it was wireless itself (read: not great, but decent).
- offycakes, on 02/11/2009, -0/+5I agree, there are small map differences. I'm sure the adjustments wouldn't have added significant development time. I'm looking forward to the SDK for creating maps, which should be released with or soon after that update (according to a previous article I had read).
- aterimperator, on 02/11/2009, -0/+5You can still take damage that way. Not to mention there will likely be tank spawns.
- SurrealDream, on 02/11/2009, -0/+5No it's funnier this way.
To paraphrase Edgar Wright "I'd rather some people 'not get it' and dislike it than call attention to a joke by holding them by the hand". - kinseyincanada, on 02/11/2009, -0/+5there has been a crap load of free Burnout Paradise stuff, Bungie had a free map, im sure theres a lot more.
- inactive, on 02/11/2009, -0/+5Go buy a cheap $15-20 Linksys router and install dd-wrt, and make it a bridge. Boom, $80 saved.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 02/10/2009, -0/+5If it's similar to horde mode in GOW2 it should be pretty fun.
