- mryokai, on 10/11/2007, -1/+40The physics in this game are immense. It feels like the Half Life 2 previews all over again.

2002 is still waiting for it's sense of humor back. - Nodaki, on 10/11/2007, -4/+37Haden Blackman is the ***** douche bag that ruined Star Wars Galaxies. Drink bleach you *****!
- TenebrousX, on 10/11/2007, -2/+33Yeah, Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast are, in my opinion, the greatest FPS Star Wars games ever made
- BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -1/+29Leave it to ***** Haden Blackman to make a Star Wars game based on the premise of kicking someone's ass with the force. I was surprised to see someone else remember his history as vividly as I, but it is true.
Haden Blackman took SWG away from the original developers and destroyed it. I will not be buying this game. - JSorrell, on 10/11/2007, -3/+26All I can say is: Holy *****.
- Xorp, on 10/11/2007, -11/+34No PC version? GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY
how dare they insult their Jedi Knight series followers like this? - TenebrousX, on 10/11/2007, -3/+24I can't even say anything; I just masturbate furiously
- gwinerreniwg, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23I loved the force powers in "Star Wars: Jedi Knight Academy", except for the fact multiplayer mode sucked pretty bad. I'd love to see an update of that game. This looks very cool, though it looks to be for consoles only. :-(
- mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18Better video quality here: http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=20007&type=mov&pl=game
- SilverhammerMBA, on 10/11/2007, -3/+20What an incredibly stupid company. This game looks like it's going to be one of the first to take advantage of a truly next generation engine and they ignore the premier "next-gen" platform: the PC. By the time this game actually comes out, PC's will already be far more powerful than the current bleeding edge of consoles - and this company is just going to ignore all of those users. I was excited about this game until 5 minutes ago.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15"Yeah, Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast are, in my opinion, the greatest FPS Star Wars games ever made"
Oi! Don't forget Dark Forces; an overlooked classic. - geekThing, on 10/11/2007, -5/+19this game would totally rock with the wii controller.
- LaughingMan11, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13Eh. I'm pretty skeptical of this. They could totally take the Force concept too far and turn it into an utter gimmick. I mean, many games have done the Force so well... the entire Jedi Knight series with Kyle Katarn, for example.
Nevermind that this game is trailing behind games like Half Life 2 by a few years in terms of realistic and manipulative physics...
Seeing is believing. Right now, this doesn't have me convinced. - balph, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Was anyone else profoundly disturbed by the cult-like mentality evident among LucasArts employees? George Lucas writes a note on their script, and they become orgasmic?
- Arkonnan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11A big fat ***** punch for every developer who uses the buzzword "next-gen"
- seks03, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Looks awesome! If they make it for consoles only that would suck!.
Jedi Knight Academy was awesome too wish they would add on to that series or at least make a similar game, though this game appears that it may just be. - dmobley, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11I was really stoked for this until I saw the 'next-gen' consoles ONLY tag.
I mean, I know it's not a $600 PS3 or $400 Xbox360, but my water-cooled quad processor, SLI machine with dual 22" widescreen monitors, 8GB of ram and 3TB of hard drive space seems to me to be a BIT more "next-gen" than your average console system. I'd say there's a significant magnitude of processing power that my hardware will have in a year from now when this actually ships over the consoles that are out now. That's just how console gaming works. They're great for 6 months or so, and by that time they're increasingly obsolete until the next generation of THOSE comes in. Your PS3 is going to be stuck at the same speed and a HUGE 120gb hard drive (wow!!!!!!) a year from now. Yeah, it's kinda powerful for a console, but it's nowhere near a well built PC that costs 4x the money.
Why has gaming devolved into the console-only realm? Are developers tired of pushing the envelope and making things as awesome as possible? In 2 years when we're in that gap between console system releases, when all the graphics are tired and old since every developer has used all the tricks they can muster (anyone play a PS2 or Xbox game recently? Yuck!), will the developers regret that they neglected the PC gaming market?
Maybe it's for the best. Most PC game developers seem to want to shovel a half-finished product out the door as quickly as possible and patch it later. You can't do that with the consoles (although that doesn't necessarily stop half-assed crap) so I guess the accountability factor of shipping a fully functional product to the console market is much higher.
Oh well, at least we get sloppy seconds on halo 2 and GTA 4? - YossarianDent, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12Look again. They added an entirely new character and gave :him: a love interest.
- Kinjiru, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9@ silverhammermba
actually even the bleeding edge consoles are no match in power for a modern PC. - jkaechler, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10GOD DAMMNIT!!!!!!
no pc version!
bastards, teasing us with that amazing video. - np374, on 10/11/2007, -5/+13No, they give his apprentice a girlfriend....duh!
On a side note:
How the hell can Lucas approve giving Darth Vader an apprentice?!? - digitalarcanum, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8I like the direction this game is going. It seems like they're taking the whole super hero element from crackdown and expanding the whole free world feel to multiple worlds. This has the makings of a great star wars game.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9This game uses the Havok physics engine, just like HL2.
"Digital Molecular Matter (DMM), by Pixelux Entertainment, and euphoria by NaturalMotion Ltd. Paired with the powerful Havok Physics™ system," - vaxguru, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Damn Lucasarts. When are they going to start making some more quality Star Wars games for the PC, like KOTOR?
This focus on console only isn't pleasant for us PC gamers. - Stevethegreat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6@poovey: A tower with the Xbox 360's raw power AND directx10 support costs $450, nowadays, while it does a lot more than "just" playing games, in the summer the prices most possibly will fall below the $400 threshold. The statement that PC gaming is expensive is completely false, my two year old mid-end PC can play about anything today, just not with everything maxed out (something that consoles do all the time), also I pay 20 bucks less for the games and I have twice the number of choices. I think the real drawback with PC gaming is that people do no want to research their hardware (or put sb who knows do it for them) and stick with criminally overpriced "solutions" like Dell's, so -in the end- they decide to take the lazy (and overpriced) way out, console gaming. If console gaming didn't exist -believe me- developers would be forced to finish the games, now they say "oh well it's PC" and there could have done some miracles with PC gaming, turning a PC into console requires only a controller nowadays you can always plug it into your HDTV and actually pay less for both the hardware and the software....
- JoshVanDanger, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5That's gonna be so awesome! Taking down a Star Destroyer with the FORCE!!! I can't wait...
- tehkain, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5poovey: I hate to tell you but you can have two 8800gtxs, 4gb of ram, and a quadcore processor for less then 1600. That is what I call a peak system. Sure you can dump thousands more but the performance increase is unseen unless you are using dual 30 inch LCDs. You could spend another 400 on alternative cooling but 120mm fans and a big heat spreader for the CPU is good enough for most.
- Hootyea, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Misplacing his words much?
He's not saying it's taking it up the ass, he's saying it's dumb. He's just not using a P.C. word for it. - UtahApocalyse, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6drool
- balph, on 10/11/2007, -5/+10"Oh my goodness, when you've got the power of the 360 and the PS3 at your fingertips, suddenly you can actually pay off on that 'unleashed' feeling in a way that you couldn't do before."
(VERY NEXT SEGMENT)
"George is all about, y'know, fundamental gameplay..."
Weird how if George is so concerned about fundamental gameplay that Lucasarts reps are pimping the graphics-whore consoles... over the one with the lightsaber-handle controller. - CatCubed, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Leave it to creativity deprived Lucas to think that adding plot means adding a love interest.
oh and why not a wookiee game? That could be great. - jakebarnes, on 10/11/2007, -5/+10A wookie game would suck.
- bbear, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4It looks like the main characters in this game are several times more powerful than Yoda or Vader. I'm wondering how this game will be challenging if you have the power of a god.
- Puppetfunk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4It's been reported that it's only for PS3 and 360
- kmckanna, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I am thinking the same thing because a video game just kicked me in the ass hard enough to make me want to pay for a 360 just so I can play it.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Good physics makes me drool.
- autocrawler, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Consoles always had more sales in general than the PC. It means nothing-it's just that the PC was always was a more niche platform than consoles. As long as you have extra money to spare, it'll remain the choice for gamers who actually care about always being on top of modern technology.
And you speak about hardware? HDTVs? Gamepads? PCs are compatible with those you know. In fact I have my gaming PC hooked up to my TV set so I could play games from a couch. And I won't even begin to explain in how many ways is Kb/M better for games in general with some genre exceptions. - thomasprebble, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Naturally this game would rock on the Wii. If it is ported though can the developers please do a good job? I don't want to see another Spiderman 3 like effort!
- seks03, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4hahahahaha!
- acetv, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3@ TenebrousX
I agree *so hard*.
Jedi Outcast's no-force saber-only dueling in multiplayer is the most perfect fighting system ever.
Jedi Academy kinda screwed with the formula by adding double-bladed sabers, dual-wielding, and those weird special moves, but it delivered in the singleplayer mode (which I'd say Outcast was weak). - GreyICE, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3God only knows. Star Wars has had games in every field, hits in almost every one (their RTSes have been... pitiful) and misses in every single one.
We can only hope this is a KOTOR, Rogue Squadron, or Jedi Knight style hit instead of the uncountable number of misses. - Houdan, on 10/31/2007, -0/+3Consoles are a joke. Everything they do is years behind the PC. I remember when Xbox came out and their big thing was "zomg xbox live we can play online!" All I could think was "Wow... I've been able to do that on my PC for... how many years?" Then you look at games coming out on next-gen consoles now and you hear things about the physics and what do people say "It looks like the next Half-Life 2," which came out at the end of 2004... over two and a half years ago.
IF the PC is a dying breed, and I do mean IF, then it's a sad day for gaming. With the exception of Nintendo I haven't seen anything really new and impressive on a console for years aside from graphics, of which nothing even compares to Crysis right now on the PC. The Force unleashed with Euphoria and DMM might come close if lucas arts can actually deliver... but then again, it's Lucas Arts, so how likely is that? I'm skeptical to say the least. - freonchill, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5hope its as good as KOTOR!
- mnky9800n, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Did that guy really call George Lucas "The George"? Again, sucks it isn't for PC.
- flickr, on 10/11/2007, -5/+8I would agree with you but you went and made a bigot of yourself....
- peleken, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I love the fact that someone can say
"The ability to control the force finally looks realistic"
and no one blinks. - Hootyea, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3We'll get a port eventually, but the 6 months will be painful.
- mojoel, on 10/11/2007, -7/+9@seks03
It could be worse than consoles only: it could be consoles and Vista only. That's like a kick right in the nuts.
This game looks so sweet! - serenity2012, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I am now sat in a pool of my own saliva. Seriously . . .
Wait, no PC version you say Kinjiru? I feel a dry spell coming on...meh -
