- inactive, on 02/19/2008, -8/+344that was a demonstration model. That means they want you to see how the RRoD looks like before purchase.
- inactive, on 02/19/2008, -2/+60I commend the submitter for linking to the source and not putting us through the blogspam machine.
- unicronband, on 02/19/2008, -9/+63Except most people of sound mind would refrain from buying a car that has a 1 in 4 chance of spontaneous combustion whilst driving. But when the only other cars on the market are the $100,000 Ferrari and a golf cart, the explosion-mobile doesn't seem as much an illogical choice.
- GeorgeWKush, on 02/19/2008, -2/+49When you unplug the AV cables and turn the machine on, it shows a full red ring. The red ring in this video only has 3 lights, which is a hardware failure.
- Kalindorno, on 02/19/2008, -0/+38a full ring is the a/v being unplugged. 3/4 is the rrod.
- Synthesize, on 02/19/2008, -5/+42It's clearly 3 red lights. Sucks for Microsoft, because they have to wait 1 month before getting a replacement just in time for the rest of GDC. ;)
Why the ***** are people comparing Cars to the Xbox 360? - lnxfi, on 02/19/2008, -1/+35Last time I checked, you still had no clue what you were talking about.
- zeejay, on 02/20/2008, -2/+32This is simply the first part of an interactive exhibit for the 2nd most popular game on the console, the waiting game.
- In the next station, you get to package your dead machine up in the "coffin" box, using real tape! Careful!
- The next station is a miniature UPS store, where you get to hand it over to the clerk, where he comforts you, telling you that you're not alone.
- Finally, there's a waiting area, where you get to sit for three weeks, NOT playing any games - scary!
- If you're Extra Lucky, you get to do the whole thing again! - Topher06, on 02/19/2008, -4/+28Your logic is flawed. People don't stop buying cars because they can get into an accident in one, they stop buying a particular brand because the brand is known for selling lemons. Its why Toyota is the best selling car company in the world while Chrysler is on the edge of bankrupcy.
- DetpackJump, on 02/19/2008, -1/+24Maybe you should check again
- GeorgeWKush, on 02/19/2008, -24/+46***** CLASSIC
- monkeyflingpoo, on 02/19/2008, -8/+29After 2 dead Xbox 360s I just built a PC. Most Xbox 360 games eventually go to PC anyways. I'm not saying everyone should sell their 360s but PC is still a great gaming platform and PC gamers still get the love that the 360 does... just a little delayed.
- inactive, on 02/19/2008, -1/+21You obviously haven't been watching too closely.
- kirakun, on 02/20/2008, -1/+20Don't you get the point yet? The ABSENCE of the customer assistant is also a demonstration of the service you will get when you attempt to report the RRoD.
- SculderFiles, on 02/19/2008, -0/+17360 is a full circle... you're going for 180.
- chkdg8, on 02/19/2008, -3/+19Fix this ***** already. There's no excuse anymore for a company like Microsoft to continue on with this mess. With the exit of HD-DVD and the PS3 in good light, the 360 camp cannot afford any major hiccups this year.
- Mjv21, on 02/19/2008, -1/+14Epic fail.
- Topher06, on 02/19/2008, -5/+18Yes, but everybody wants the f*cking Ferrari now don't they.
- Snuff99, on 02/19/2008, -3/+14Your logic is flawed in another way being that RRoD is the ONLY reason I don't have an Xbox360. Any business that expects return customers should know -QUALITY FIRST- above all else. Seems Microsoft missed that memo.
- BlueSkyfish, on 02/19/2008, -0/+11Turn 360 degrees and you'll be walking in your original direction.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 02/19/2008, -2/+13Oh yeah, well you're a dummy head!
- vinecrawler, on 02/19/2008, -1/+11it only works if you cross two
- inactive, on 02/19/2008, -2/+12if you order within the next 10 minutes, you get vista as a bonus!
- TraumaDrama, on 02/19/2008, -1/+10Don't watch Cloverfield.
- AvidPreatorian, on 02/19/2008, -3/+11haha yea that's cute, whatever helps you send your console in for repair
- tattertech, on 02/19/2008, -2/+10Then the last time you checked was wrong. A full ring actually isn't a big deal (it means AV cables aren't inserted correctly). Three of the four is the infamous one.
- tamtamg, on 02/19/2008, -0/+7Do the rest of society a favor and please do not procreate, your stupidity astounds me.
- mnemy, on 02/19/2008, -1/+8Umm, actually, that's precisely why I haven't bought an XBOX360. I was waiting for the falcon chip to come out and plenty of users testing it to see if the RROD issues were resolved. I have a PS3 and a Wii, so it's not that I'm too cheap to buy it. I just refuse to buy ***** quality hardware that I will likely have to ship back and forth later.
- kfsutops, on 02/19/2008, -4/+10I have had three of them die. One was received by Microsoft to be fixed now. I will never buy another xbox.
- dmadzak, on 02/20/2008, -2/+8Please don't be an enabler. I don't have an XBox 360 or PS3, but I find the failure rate unacceptable and this goes way beyond "all consoles have their own issues". The product is defective. Plain and simple.
- iceblademan, on 02/20/2008, -2/+8That's what they told Frodo. Then his ***** got ***** up, man
- alittleroy101, on 02/19/2008, -0/+6Ah god, why advertise to the whole world that you're an idiot?
- inactive, on 02/19/2008, -1/+7Not unless you do the MOON WALK!
- heathuff23, on 02/19/2008, -0/+6Yes, except for the fact that 360 degrees would be a full circle and you would end up facing it again, numbnuts
- DarkShroud, on 02/19/2008, -0/+6The towel trcik damages the 360 even further. If's because of retarded ***** suckers like you that the refurbs fail so much.
- rowlodge, on 02/20/2008, -0/+5i'll bet the guys who designed the ring on the 360 despise their once pretty ring. there will be no ring on the next generation xbox 360 " 2 ", probably a square instead, so it wouldn't remind people of thew last one.
- fancyj, on 02/19/2008, -2/+7I don't know why you're being buried. Those were both pretty funny.
- robdiggity, on 02/19/2008, -2/+7Mmmmm... panini sandwich.... ohohohohoohohohoho
- TiMMY8765, on 02/19/2008, -2/+7your power outage is 4 lights. the real RROD is 3 lights
- Rhendal, on 02/19/2008, -2/+7That's exactly what everyone said before it came out when they said there was no HDTV support for it, and look where it is now.
- Squidly1, on 02/20/2008, -0/+5I had my 360 die on me a couple of months ago and I got totally new unit in three weeks (they even gave me my custom shell back). I have since been tempted to drill a huge hole in the side and mount a 120mm fan on it (low noise, high cooling).
As a PS3 owner (I have a Wii, too), I have run that sucker non-stop crunching Folding@Home numbers (and played a few games) and had *no* heating issues. Is it quality of manufacture or quality of design that allows me to do that? Hmmmm....
Folding@Home stats: http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summar ... - DiggerUpper, on 02/19/2008, -1/+5When you turn 360 degrees, you end up facing it again.
- samdu, on 02/20/2008, -1/+5MS didn't extend the warranty (only for RRoD, mind you) three years out of the kindness of their hearts. They did it in order to avoid a class action lawsuit.
- r3m1x, on 02/20/2008, -2/+6Cut Microsoft some slack guys...they're just celebrating the death of HD-DVD.
- elnoseface, on 02/19/2008, -5/+9I would probably overheat too if i was in a small plastic box.
- elliotys, on 02/19/2008, -3/+7Gotta say the hardware problems are *****, and shouldn't have happened, but I think microsoft did a great job with their extended warranty. For me it was real easy, my xbox disc drive ***** up, called up xbox live, sent in box, got new one in a month. It's definitely not ideal for them to break in the first place, but SO FAR my replacement hasn't skipped a beat.
Im almost more worried if it would had been a more rare occurence, it would have gotten less publicity, and thus no compensation from microsoft. - Bologner, on 02/20/2008, -1/+5Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd you're an idiot.
- Barnolde, on 02/19/2008, -31/+35Technology is so complex, I remember the good ol days with Windows 98 plug n play: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGLhuF3L48U
and Media Center seamlessly works wirelessly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbtsasIoj44 - BrandonMills, on 02/20/2008, -2/+6Free flash games on the web are more popular than you think. You might want to check sales numbers. Whether Nintendo has some of that 'Apple charm' or not, Wii is still selling like crazy.
Gamers tend to severly underestimate the population of non-gamers out there. -
