- PhoenixAvatar2, on 10/11/2007, -5/+68Halo isn't popular because it was first, it's popular because it does things right.
- Shad0wSP, on 10/11/2007, -0/+43I'm still waiting for a "mister chief" model to play as
- guitarh3ro, on 10/11/2007, -1/+39I don't know, I think it's real. Seriously, Bungie knows that fans are going to get bored with just Spartan and Elites, and having a Brute in Multiplayer really doesn't make much sense, so having different armor types is really the only other plausible option.
- Azimuth1, on 10/11/2007, -2/+28I'd never particularly been a Halo fan before this beta (I bought Crackdown for Crackdown), but holy *****, it is so much fun. I can't wait for Halo 3 to come out, and every new piece of information about it we get makes me want it even more.
- Scheissen, on 10/11/2007, -13/+38Golden Eye isn't near as fun as Halo.
- crashflow, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21I don't even want to know how you figured out how tight a duck's ass is...
- AwesomeMonster, on 10/11/2007, -4/+22Time to reply to everybody
UT didn't really bring anything to the table other than some cool weapons. They basically took quake death match and made it faster.
as far as perfect dark being good, well if constant slowdown is your cup of tea, well I guess so.
"it just takes them 5 years longer than the competition. It took them 2 games to "create" the idea of the "man cannon". Halo is a good series but compared to almost any other FPS it falls flat"
This is just stupid. You realize you have just insulted the game because they implemented a new feature in the series, and a very insignificant one at most. As for your 5 years bit, just look at the games created during the time in which they were originally created. Halo one had virtually no decent competition pc or otherwise. Halo 2 had the bad luck to be placed between three games that had a major impact on the genre, doom 3, farcry and hl2, it was still arguably just as good as farcry and doom3, especially in terms of multiplayer where those three titles fall flat on their face (cs:s doesn't count, it's a mod). All because your bitter now that the genre is now available to your friends who aren't as tech savy as you and don't build their own rigs doesn't mean the game is bad. - gsiliceo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17There is a ninja version, ok, but where is the pirate!? this is favoritism.
- gavintlgold, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17Halo 3 ... new armor types. NOT 3 new halo armor types.
- Ninjab3ar, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18As long as the new armor types don't complicate the game by adding new features, its fine. It would be nice to see diverse-looking soldiers in the game.
I hate it when game companies add new features to "enhance" the game-play when the only thing they are doing is complicating it. One example could be Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, in that game they decided to make the player have to manage their body type and weapon skills. - TehSwat, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16Bungie is being as tight as a ducks ass about single player and customization, but I sure as hell can't wait.
- wwwdot1jesdotus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14Even if it is real, that doesn't mean it will make the final cut. Remember all the things Halo 2 was supposed to have that got cut last minute (like the Mongoose)?
Of course it sounds like a cool idea. I wanna be a ninja. - JayD16, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15This takes some pretty wide leaps of speculation.
- shadus, on 10/11/2007, -9/+20So basically they made it into Tribes? :P
- Fox318, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12You know, the 360 has a lot to offer besides Halo. You should have jumped on earlier :P.
- Metaridley, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11Ninjas kick pirates' asses. End of story.
- ekaa, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10I agree with guitarhero, this would be a great addition to the game.
- nreynolds, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6so thats why there aren't all the other emblem types right next to them? And since when do emblems have descriptions?
- stupidStan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6You support your argument so well...
- MadNuke, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6I just want to point out that several different "parts" does not mean "mix-n-match", each part may be rendered separately to allow them to move independently of each other; ragdoll physics, etc. while still being part of a uniform armor set.
- gavintlgold, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Why would they need descriptions for emblems?
- Silentshadow900, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Oh okay. I thought I recognized your foul grammar when I was brought on board.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Indeed, the primary leap being that all things included in the code of the beta will make the final cut. I'm amazed these stories about AMAZING DISCOVERIES IN TEH BETA CODE!!!!!!!111!!!1 keep getting dugg. They're entirely speculative, with just a dash of "programming" cred.
- protogenxl, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I can already hear it now, non-stop arguing on the XCom about who gets to be Cobra Commander.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4These aren't screenshots. RTFA please.
- Piggycow, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5This whole hacking into the beta code is stupid. It is only speculation and just raises false hopes. Every time Isee something new revealed I pray it was announced by Bungei but I have been let down so far.
- 2legit2kwit, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3COOOOOOOOOOOBRRAAAAAAAAAAA!
- fullphaser, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Indeed, at least in most of the situations I have seen game coders will leave stuff in (especially in a beta) that they may want to use later, Having a string pointing to some interesting tags and having actual models is really a whole different matter all together. For all we know they were just some ideas tossed up at the table and left in the code.
- Jorlwind, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6I'm not sure what I think about this. One of the things that I love about Halo is it follows the mantra "Simplicity is the child of brilliant design" Halo is an honest shooter - it pretends to be nothing more than what it is, and with all these new weapon addons and design changes... Well it might just be straying too far off the path. It could still be a masterful game, but will it be "Halo"?
Just my two cents I hope you guys don't mind. - TheNik, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3The Halo 3 Beta has been really promising, so I'm looking forward to the final game. Hilariously, the coolest effect, in my opinion, is the distant gunshots sound. :P

http://flamesoffeenix.wordpress.com/2007/05/30/images-of-new-halo-armour/ - Nobi-Wan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I guarantee by the time you are getting Halo 3 that there will be a special "Halo edition" Xbox 360 that will be cool as hell, plus have the smaller chips. Don't worry about having to wait.
- Encablossa, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Tribes 2 anyone?
- AoiTakuma, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3goldeneye is STILL fun to play. Although the controls aren't as good now that I am used to the two joysticks, it still holds up for some good battles. Pistols only, complex, license to kill; anyone?
- dacheetah, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@AoiTakuma:
"goldeneye is STILL fun to play. Although the controls aren't as good now that I am used to the two joysticks, it still holds up for some good battles. Pistols only, complex, license to kill; anyone?"
You can use two controllers in Goldeneye, which allows you to use two joysticks. :)
Works in multiplayer too, but if limits you to less players due to the only 4 controller ports... - graizur, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o165/fyrewulff/armorcompare.png
- M724, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Ninja armor. 'Nuff said.
- Bega, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3GI Joe!
seriously, that's what the names remind me of. - HBNDonut, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I can tell that you are a Halo fanboy in disguise. But I sure as hell agree with you!
- velcrocore, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Less than 4 months!
I don't know if I'll be able to save the $450 by then. To many bills. Growing up sucks. Halo 2 might have to hold me for another 9 months. - FriesandCoke, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Now, in addition to being tea-bagged, you will have a guy yelling "COBRA!!!" in your ear.
- FuZi0nDET, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Don't buy it; Bungie knew moders would get a hold of this and tear through it. You would think they'd make sure that things wouldn't get out from the beta so Im having a hard to buying any of this. That being said the beta has been lots of fun!
- LogicBomB, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Whether it's 100% visual or if there are differences between the armor types, I'll love it.
If it's all visual, you get better visual cues of your friends on the battlefield and makes customizing a bit more robust than "green suit with the slightest hint of red around the edges".
If it's practical, you can develop pretty decent strategies around your playstyle. If one armor is slightly transparent (ninja) or lets you jump a little higher (cobra) or simply takes more damage but is slower (intruder) it would add a whole new dynamic to it. Just my suggestions but I've always been huge into classes and specializations. - SPARTACVS, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Holy ***** this is the best post of the thread!
- heavyness, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Regulators... mount up!
- cwgannon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1There's a price-cut on the horizon, guaranteed. At will happen just before or right after the launch of Halo 3. No need to worry.
- ApeInago, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1First thing I thought too.
- HBNDonut, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I've seen video leaks from the Internal Halo 3 beta with Spartans customised in ways that cant be done in the public beta. Im guessing these "armour types" are basically just variations on where your Primary and Secondary colours appear. Id also take a guess that "ninja" has a secondary colour over the mouth piece, like a Ninja mask...
With all of these customisation options, I will be extremely disappointed if Clans dont get to play in Uniform! - HBNDonut, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1And why would the emblems refer to the helmet?
- LogicBomB, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Goldeneye was the ***** back in the day. Playing it now, it's just *****.
Constant slowdowns, inefficient aiming, no jumping, poor graphics, etc.. etc...
Yes it's an old game but it doesn't hold up well. Doom is an OLD game and it holds up VERY well, Goldeneye feels awkward and "wrong" after so many years. -
