- StingerMS, on 10/11/2007, -3/+108This is a blog. I'll believe it when Bungie says it.
- DBiz, on 10/11/2007, -5/+89Well, well Bungie... way to set the bar!
Now let's hope that Gears of War 2 can follow your act as it's a game that's destined to have 4 player Live co-op. - thatsmyaibo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+79"So guys, please, don't take this for a fact"
But according to the title, it's *REVEALED*! - SultanTravi, on 10/11/2007, -3/+69WTF are you talking about? Even I wasn't that impressed by Halo 2. In the first 2 days since Halo 3 beta came out, I played 1/5 as many games as I have played Halo 2 games in my life.
It's way better. Many huge, but often subtle improvements. - pegisys, on 10/11/2007, -5/+53No, God doesn't just work for MS they invented him and they own the patent
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+42The Halo 3 beta? There's like 30,000 people on at any given time.
- oofgeg, on 10/11/2007, -6/+44God works for Microsoft, didn't you know that?
- elnerdo, on 10/11/2007, -9/+46Until Starcraft 2.
- JefffN, on 10/11/2007, -2/+32Sorry... But not quite...
Being someone who has been looking at Halo map files since Halo 1, Bungie has always left reminiscence of past ideas and concepts in the map files. From the flamethrower and engineer in Halo 1, to concepts like saving films and the Mongoose in Halo 2 or the gametype called "headhunter". This confirms NOTHING about the final game. It's nothing more then a string located in the map file. I feel Nick said it best: http://main.halodev.org/devblogs/posts/nick/may-19-2007/a-disgrace-to-halo-modders
I think we should wait for an official word... - zzz@tkz, on 10/11/2007, -13/+40...and it still takes a good 10 minutes to find a match.
- joaob, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21Nobi-Wan....
try like 70k - navster15, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17I may be in the minority in Digg, but I played the hell out of Halo 2, and, barring any racist 12 year olds, loved every minute of it. That said, after playing Halo 3, 2 just seems like its retarded little brother. It's going to be a tough wait until September.
- AntBing, on 10/11/2007, -0/+164 player co-op might get me to go out and buy a 360 just for Halo.
- Salgat, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17Yup, developers often add features to test things or try out things even though they may intend to never use them in the final version.
- sonofcali, on 10/11/2007, -9/+24I never believed into a God, till now... Thank you.
- zzz@tkz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15Try opening up a compiled C (just using it as an example, not sure on what language the 360 uses) file in notepad, you won't be able to read *****.
- KlayBorg, on 10/11/2007, -7/+21This sounds really dubious, as in the past they have stated they did not want to do 4 player co-op as it would ruin the style of halo... So guys, please, don't take this for a fact,
- nreynolds, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15I understand when they keep things the way they are so they don't "ruin the style of halo" but this would be awesome. Plus, it's not like you have to play this way. If you want to play halo in the "classical" sense, do single player or 2 person co-op. But Bungie, please give us the OPTION of doing 4 player, as long as 360 can handle that much stuff going on. I know there's up to 16 players over live, but 4 player co-op would be 4 human players, and TONS of bad guys and explosions. If the 360 can handle that with 4 players, why don't they bump up what it can do with 1 player?
- fullphaser, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Hope they introduce 4 player co op as non live as well. There is nothing that irritates me more about the 360 game setup than the fact that anything remotely related to multiplayer has to be done through the Xbox live system, Multiplayer is getting harder and harder to find actually programmed into the console for a group of friends.
- tehbored, on 10/11/2007, -21/+34I'm not sure whether to think "they are totally overdoing it!" or "this is going to be ***** amazing!"
- mahsah, on 10/11/2007, -5/+17If there was one this that Halo did great, it was coop. Especially the Coop vehicles (having someone drive and someone gun seems obvious but Halo did it very well).
I have NEVER owned a game system, and I usually play my FPS games on a PC, but I may buy a 360 just for this.
Maybe there will be a way to plug in a mouse+keyboard? :( - DiggMasterJ, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16In Soviet Russia whole thread gets buried.
- zzz@tkz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11I assumed that they used some sort of hex reader...aka not Notepad.
- mahsah, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11OK, I will give you SvenCoop. I thought OP ment HL2.
- th3heretic, on 10/11/2007, -6/+15Half life 3 while were at it...
- mortey, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13Mother of God....
- thatbox, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I believe they got this info from the map files, which are readable in a hex editor set to big endian. They used educated guesses based on some Halo 2 carryover placements.
- BrandonMills, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7All this talk about sequels to FPS games has me thinking about how our ol buddy Duke Nukem is doing these days.
Wonder if we'll see something at E3 this year. Who knows. - thefat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Didn't Perfect Dark Zero have 4 player co-op campaign?
- Paradoxombie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Yes, when you play through a game for the 15th time, that same box moving puzzle will certainly *not* be boring and repetitive.
- Leo55, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I just hope that You are not just another clone in the co-op mode of campaign.
The co-op player which is part of the story will be great. (like gears of war) - Hetman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Has there ver been a four player fps console game?
- hollismb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3You can do all the single player missions in online co-op in Rainbow Six Vegas as well. Not just terrorist hunt.
- ndiderrich, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Be glad to have a 360 because GTA IV and Halo 3 will be ***** awesome.
- staffrocket, on 10/11/2007, -0/+37
- nygrissplz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2There is a way but it costs $80 lol. Check around www.llama.com if you wanna find it. I wouldn't, becuase i tried the SmartJoy Frag thing for Xbox, and honestly it sucked pretty bad. Sphere map --> Flat plane does not translate well and makes for awkward movement. But i guess it takes some getting used to.
- HBNDonut, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"The Halo 3 beta? There's like 30,000 people on at any given time."
What are you smoking? I've seen more people than that online in a single playlist in the Beta. - fullphaser, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"Up to 4 players may play coop on Xbox Live or System Link."
Yeah, but that still is just putting money in both Microsoft's and subsequently Bungies pocket, because then you still have to have 4 or so 360's and 4 copies of halo 3. What happened to inviting some friends over and not having to ask them to bring their own boxes. - edrift101, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Hmmm... I may be buying a new core system in September after all.
- SpaceNinjaDino, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3This is what I've always wanted for Halo. I love doing 4 player co-op with Rainbow Six on 360.
- sonofcali, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Halo Coop + GoW coop = 360 Godliness. Even though I always wanted the wii to win. Hopefully SSBB is online and has crazy options like this. Did any of you read the *reavealed* custom game options?
- Jinno, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2And whenever you stop being so full of yourself you'll have a valid statement to make.
Nick wasn't being full of himself, he was stating his morally grounded opinion. - kinseyincanada, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1if this is true would it show that the campaign would be really hard, cause in Halo 2 it was easy enough to beat with 2 people, well not on legendary but on regular modes. With 4 it would be a breeze
- sonofcali, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Well, i sure as hell dont have enough to buy visit now, or in the next 2 years, and that's including the hope i dont have to buy another computer to use it. It looks worth it, but i just dont have the mula.
- QuickSilverGunk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2"The Halo 3 beta? There's like 30,000 people on at any given time."
It's more like 40,000-70,000 people on at any given time. Thats what my screen says. - Hetman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I hope so. I am i guess still dissapointed at duke nukem forever. But i still like the franchise.
- Hetman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I agree there should be a sytem link options. But halo on xbox live might be the best way to have multiplayer mach ups today.
- NYC10004, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1If this is true, looks like I'll be buying my brother and my best friend 360's for their birthdays.
- sonofcali, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2According to the post, they will have system link 4 way coop. Good enough, and think about it; 4 360s running a single game of Halo3 with 4 players going mad sitting next to each other on 4 hopefully large screens. Sounds like heaven! Souns like 1440!
