- Bologner, on 11/03/2009, -15/+75Is Infinity Ward trying to lose sales to somehow end their contract with Activision?
- stevieraveon, on 11/03/2009, -4/+55Before everyone freaks out, maybe we should find out what game mode it's on. I'd imagine Search and Destroy would be a good candidate for this.
- lolwatermelon, on 11/03/2009, -6/+49I think they're trying to see how much they can ***** their games up and still sell copies like crazy.
- Denominator88, on 11/03/2009, -4/+40Yeah and friends and clan mates can't talk in private while they casually play a game. A lot of people love to talk and ***** while they play games, without disturbing the other players. Restrictions work both ways.
- 8ight, on 11/03/2009, -14/+44I posted this at Xbox-Scene last week... I still stand by my comment.
"So IW is going to force me to listen to all those little racist ***** when I play online? I'd rather talk to my friends. Just because I sit in a party with my friends doesn't mean we're cheating. It means we don't want to listen to others or have others listen to our conversation. If IW is doing this, I won't be playing online with it much. I play games online with my friends and if I can't enjoy their company while I play, I won't.
A feck you in advanced MS & IW." - TheBeev, on 11/03/2009, -0/+29Yeah because it's sooooo fun having to mute people every match you play....
- SpruceCaboose, on 11/03/2009, -3/+32I lost my excitement for this game with this. Party chat is the best feature on Live. I can go into games with my friends and not have to deal with the screamers, the singers, the hate-spewing *****, etc. It is not like people who want to cheat will be stopped by this. It just makes the experience worse for people who want to play the game with their friends.
- 8ight, on 11/03/2009, -0/+28Ventrilo, TeamSpeak, Skype, a speaker phone?
Cheaters will cheat and it's not very hard to do. Breaking up my party so we can play HC S&D is just going to annoy people who just want talk with their friends. - archieboi, on 11/03/2009, -2/+23you're retarded. i don't pay 50 bucks a year for live to have features taken away from me.
- TommySalami, on 11/03/2009, -2/+22It's only in certain game modes, like search and destroy, where there is no respawn. Talking while you're dead to those who are alive is unfair, because you can tell them where the other team is. It's just there to balance the game.
- 8ight, on 11/03/2009, -1/+18Many times I'll be in a party with friends playing COD, others might being playing NHL, and others could be playing Madden.
Sure, you're ***** suggestion might work if we're all playing COD, but many times we're not. - Pschkqitzsough, on 11/03/2009, -2/+19Party chat in SOME MODES as in Search and Destroy where it's CHEATING to party chat....
But yeah bitch away. - kavendano14, on 11/03/2009, -19/+35Good,now cheaters can't chat and tell their friends where we are
- inactive, on 11/03/2009, -0/+16Lady: "You've reached the party line, in a moment you will be connected to a hot party, with some of the world's most beautiful women! Now, let's join the party!"
Krusty: "Hello?"
Some Guy: "Hello?"
Other guy: "Hello?"
Apu: "Are, are there any women here?
Krusty: "Hello!?!?!"
Apu: "Are you a beautiful woman?"
Krusty: "Do I sound like a beautiful woman?!?!"
Apu: "This is not as hot of a party as I anticipated" - AIias, on 11/03/2009, -10/+25Yay for IW! . . .
- sentry21, on 11/03/2009, -15/+29Wow is all I can say ***** IW.
- Katana314, on 11/03/2009, -1/+15Making a statement of quality on a game that is thus unreleased and no one has played: Priceless.
- Fire4Effect, on 11/03/2009, -4/+17On the plus side, IW has now run out of feet to shoot themselves.
- TheNik, on 11/03/2009, -8/+19Everyone bitching doesn't realize that the game modes it has been disabled on are the ones where party chat is an easy way to cheat.
- ParticleMan420, on 11/03/2009, -3/+14how the ***** does the mute button help him talk to his friends in other games?
way to miss the point fanboys! - HeizeusX, on 11/03/2009, -0/+9Dude, it's Digg. Knee-jerk-and-post is a way of life here. Rationality and reading comprehension have no place among Digg comments.
- Synn, on 11/03/2009, -3/+12I can't tell if you're trying be funny or if you're really an idiot. Newsflash, a lot of people talk to friends in parties who are playing OTHER games than what they are playing. Not to mention the fact that when you mute people...they can still hear you talking. What if I don't want other people listening into conversations with my friends? So yeah...you're an idiot.
- Denominator88, on 11/03/2009, -2/+11@Doonce
And maybe I've got things I'd like to only talk about with close friends and not random people on the Internet. - inactive, on 11/03/2009, -4/+13Oh Yeah, lets not act like nobody abuses the chat functions in the Call of Duty series.
- lolwatermelon, on 11/03/2009, -4/+13"Learn to mute you dip."
I wonder how many people have muted you for demanding chocolate milk from your mother. - sputnikv, on 11/03/2009, -9/+17they're shooting themselves in the foot
- Bulletbillx, on 11/03/2009, -0/+8All I know is if i have to put up with the randoms that spew ***** all over XBL i guess ill be doing a lot of muting and reporting of people.
- gravelocity, on 11/03/2009, -0/+8Simple reason is so you can't spy during multiplayer.
- OUberLord, on 11/03/2009, -0/+7Party chat ruined a core functionality of the multiplayer in Chromehounds because they didn't do something like this. I'm all for IW doing this move, assuming that it only affects game modes where party chat can be used to cheat. I mean seriously, if this only affects certain modes as described, do you really need to use the party chat feature while you play those modes? You can just as easily play MW2 and play any other mode and still use party chat.
Of course, this is all assumptions. Anyone who has a vehement opinion of this feature at this point is kind of making an ass of themselves, as it is all unconfirmed until Activision comments on it. - ultraseamus, on 11/03/2009, -1/+8What is up with everyone being pissed? They are limiting party chat in some game types. Stuff like Team Slayer will be unaffected. This will probably be for hardcore and mercenary (maybe free-for-all) modes, it adds an extra level of strategy. Not to mention, if you are playing alone in those game types, you do not get stuck with a group of people in their own party (my friends and I do this to others all the time). Nothing to start another stupid petition over. Gamers are getting so jumpy and oversensitive recently. -_-
- paulvq, on 11/03/2009, -0/+7I've noticed that the most aggravating people on Live are the first to suggest the "Mute" button. Make a ***** party if you want to talk to your friends, and leave the game chat for game chat.
- RegalBegal, on 11/03/2009, -6/+12Thousands of 18-20somethings crying about a game they have the OPTION to play or not play? Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhmbulance is on it's way.
You turds are going to bury me, I know this.
But what's the big smelly deal? Honestly.
What ever happened to people accepting and dealing with things they can't control? If there ever was tangible proof this generation of males have been 'nerfed' in terms of dealing with minor inconveniences, MW2 is it. - Synn, on 11/03/2009, -1/+7@hurrayforschool: That is a matter of opinion. And what about my first point you seemed to not address?
- rockon4life45, on 11/03/2009, -0/+6I'm for this, nobody ever talks these days, they are all in parties.
- Pschkqitzsough, on 11/03/2009, -8/+14Dude you can party up and play with your friends and chat away... This is only for SOME MODES like Search where it's cheating to party chat because you can tell your friends where they are after your dead while the teams who aren't in party chat can't. Get over it!
- RegalBegal, on 11/03/2009, -4/+10Rational explanation...Check
Telling it like it is....Check
Getting buried, well duh CHECK - FOR3MAN, on 11/03/2009, -5/+10Are you mad at them for trying to keep the game fair?
- sentry21, on 11/03/2009, -0/+5well I happen to like playing S&D with my friends and party chat keeps the annoying ppl out.
douche - FredFredrickson, on 11/03/2009, -3/+8Turning off party chat while you're in a ranked match is not the same as "not fully supported."
They're turning it off so you and a friend can't cheat by telling each other where things are after one of you dies. Not a big deal guys. Chill the ***** out.
Buried for being inaccurate. - BluZebra, on 11/03/2009, -4/+9Lulz.
Nice to see all the xbots whining, after bashing us PC players because they took away dedicated servers. - AZRoboto, on 11/03/2009, -1/+5No, that's exactly what 'not fully supported' means. It's not fully supported by all aspects of the game.
- paulvq, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4You don't have to make the same point with the same insults fifteen times in the same submission you *****.
- daze23, on 11/03/2009, -3/+7I think games like COD were better before party chat (it wasn't that long ago btw). yes, some people were annoying, but thats what mute is for. at least you could meet new people and tell the other team how you felt after the match. I know a lot of people feel party chat has in some ways taken a lot away from these types of games
also the only place where cheating can take place isn't just games with no re-spawn. in pretty much any gamemode a friend can join in mid game and end up on the other team. then if he's in party chat he can give up all types of information. I know that might seem silly, but these are "ranked" matches with leaderboards, and some people take that seriously.
in the end it may be an inconvenience, but it's something they're doing to make gameplay more fair. also I think it's funny people act like the right to party chat is in the constitution or something. like many things in life it comes first with much freedom, but then as it's drawbacks manifest, regulation is put into effect.
and btw, the price of xbox live has not changed since they added party chat. so don't act like you pay $50 a year for party chat - daze23, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4so you didn't play before party chat?
- krets, on 11/03/2009, -3/+7I don't know why everyone is digging you down. Apparently a lot of people are just looking to bash IW instead of listening to reason.
- ChinezePanda, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4Replying to my own comment so you grammar pricks out there don't have to.
Yes I know "through" should be "threw".
&
warrant should be warranty.
That is all. Carry on. - OUberLord, on 11/03/2009, -2/+6Yeah, nothing like a bunch of people going off half-cocked on a rumor that is unconfirmed about a change to a feature that apparently many on here don't even understand either way.
Assuming the rumor is correct, I really don't see a flaw in this. If you *really* want to play S&D and *really* need to talk to a friend who is playing something else at the same time.... use a telephone? I guess I just really don't see those two things happening at the same time for me. - lichter86, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4I understand the difference. However, if there are 2 or 3 of us playing team deathmatch together, there will be a few unknown players on our team and they tend to scream and make frequent racist comments. I guess that I could mute them but it is much easier to just set up a party chat with those who you want to talk to.
- daze23, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4they're taking away my constitutional right to party chat!
- ChinezePanda, on 11/04/2009, -1/+5Pre-ordered for the PS3 anyway... ***** 360 red ringed for 4th time... and I simply through the thing in the garbage since the warrant expired.
***** it.
At least I have a system that ***** works. -
