- justice7, on 10/28/2007, -4/+47they're kinda mandatory ;)
- amnesiac096, on 10/28/2007, -8/+44TF2 PC FTW
- FinalLimit, on 10/28/2007, -4/+28Awesome. These are some nice updates that any Orange Box owner should swiftly download.
- inactive, on 10/29/2007, -10/+31TF2 FTW!
- ddfall, on 10/28/2007, -10/+29No 360 version here. Just Steam + The Orange Box. :)
- MeruFM, on 10/30/2007, -0/+13and XBL just took it from xFire
It's all a big chain. Nothing is really original - Skanadian, on 10/28/2007, -1/+13360 version would be much much better if it supported more than 16 players in a match.
- amnesiac096, on 10/29/2007, -3/+13lame? come on, at least have some constructive criticism lame ass. This is good news for people who like the HL2/TF2 games. This fixes problems that made TF2 hard to handle on the 360. what's so lame about it? i know that the PC version is better, but this is not lame news
- Wildthing, on 10/29/2007, -0/+8Steam has actually gotten really good imho. There's an overlay now so that you can comm w/ friends in game, not to mention voice over that comm so that you can just chat w/ your friends instead of the entire team. Also, there's no monthly charge for Steam. To each his own I guess.
- devonsams, on 10/29/2007, -3/+11Wow, look how excited everyone is about this. Frequent and random updates are something us PC gamers have been enjoying from Valve for years. Go Valve!
- amnesiac096, on 10/28/2007, -3/+11amen to that
- Christbait, on 10/28/2007, -9/+16Steam is for computers.
..And, I bet you've never even used XBL, from the looks of the new Steam, it's been taking a few chunky leafs out of XBL's book. - zeeneo, on 10/28/2007, -1/+7I'm expecting a lot of updates! Remember TFC?
I don't mind updates, it's a good thing imho. - phatcat77, on 10/30/2007, -0/+5Yeah XBL mostly just sucks because the basic fundamental flaw, P2P networking..
- dreamss, on 10/28/2007, -0/+4the lag is gone, haven't had freezes. well see....
- amnesiac096, on 10/28/2007, -1/+5there should be no superior class. they probably did it because the demo was too strong compared to certain classes. every class should have strengths and weaknesses, and also there needs to be checks and balances such as how the scout is the anti-soldier and vice versa. You can't have one dominant class because it would ruin the game. Granted if an equally skilled scout goes against a heavy, the heavy should win because they have more HP and 'armor' than the scout, but a couple scouts can overtake one heavy. checks and balances. i'll stop rambling.
- havokzero, on 10/29/2007, -4/+8I have been using Steam since it was first released, and I can honestly say that Live is a far better system. Digg me down, but your children's children will be plugged into Microsoft Live shortly after birth.
- LordLOC, on 10/28/2007, -0/+4Anyone know approx. how many people are playing TF2 on the 360? Reason why I'm asking is, I'm just curious as to whether a born and bread PC FPS (TF) has more people playing it on a console at this point.
TF2 on Steam has usually from between 8,000 and 15,000 or so players at any given time these days. Considering the 500,000+ playing Halo 3, I just wondered how many might be playing TF2. - respectagain, on 10/28/2007, -2/+6Nothing in the Orange Box requires you to have a killer rig.
- evilcaptain, on 10/28/2007, -0/+4What was the first update?
- thewebguy, on 10/27/2007, -0/+3there used to be a spy issue, but i think it is fixed.
to describe the previous issue:
- select a class, play, and die
- change to spy, you will notice you do not have the sapper weapon available
- change classes, then change back to spy, and you will have the sapper
but like i said, it seems to be fixed - Postalwrker27, on 10/28/2007, -0/+3Really? Well good...I was tired of seeing nothing but a team of Demoguys and Spys...ugh the spy. You are my mortal enemy...
- Izzio, on 10/28/2007, -1/+4I thought that was Episode Two- you know what? They're all great. :)
- Zalyster, on 10/28/2007, -2/+5I thought that was Portal.
- EuphopiaB, on 10/27/2007, -0/+3haha your a horrible person
- jondo85, on 10/28/2007, -2/+4your comment shows that you just don't understand valve, they just constantly update their games, if they had waited another year to release they would still have released updates as soon as this. you must be used to ***** developers that just release then forget.
- inactive, on 10/28/2007, -0/+2no
- Optimaximal, on 10/27/2007, -0/+2The grenades will explode on contact until they bounce once, then they become timed grenades. Makes them more useful for bouncing around corners onto sentry guns.
- B52doc, on 10/28/2007, -0/+1I hope they add more achievements for TF2 on Steam. Hardcore = 1000 kills ? Please... I did that my first week.
- inactive, on 10/28/2007, -0/+1well, another advantage to steam is that you aren't forced into purchasing the entire orange box. you can just buy team fortress 2, which is probably what you're mostly playing anyway (and what they seem to be primarily focused on releasing updates for).
edit: ooh, and a mouse and keyboard - Postalwrker27, on 10/27/2007, -0/+1Oh thats what that was? I was wondering why (during the 15min I decided to play as one) where the sapper was. I stood next to a sentry for a good 2min trying to figure out how to get the darn thing disabled...it just wouldn't let me pull that thing out. No wonder.
- BearinG, on 10/28/2007, -0/+1Good for you
- aroq, on 10/28/2007, -0/+1Noobs pile onto sniper and spy like flies on *****.
- Christbait, on 10/28/2007, -7/+8Orange Box is all killer, no filler.
And in all fairness, the naysayers too scared and weak to hold a rumbling games controller need to be quiet, the console version is also very good - gameplay is fine, though some badly converted textures in the original HL2, it even has improved graphics in parts, mainly lighting and FX and just an overall great package for all platforms.
Get it, or get out. - jeosan, on 10/28/2007, -0/+1even after the patch i experienced the bug involving the spy with missing sappers and the demoman with disappearing stickybombs. i have no idea why it happens though.
- AnonymousSkull, on 10/28/2007, -5/+6This freakin' rules. I get really bummed when haters flame those playing TF2 on the 360 instead of the PC because my PC died a year ago and I've been using my PowerBook since then. I loved TFC so much that I just had to play TF2, and the only way available without spending $2k+ on a killer new rig was via the 360. So those hating on the 360 TF2 players, stop please.
The lag at times was absolutely unbearable in-game. Glitching out was pretty bad too - spawning at a random point staring at the bridge to the final cap point in Dustbowl was lame. The lag was the worst, though. I'm so happy they fixed this, I hope things only keep getting better. TEAM FORTRESS FOREVER! ^_^ - Postalwrker27, on 10/28/2007, -3/+4Shut your noise, you. This game has been in development since I was a freshman in HS. I think it was ready to be released. Besides, how do you know how well a game is going to operate online until you really do put it through its paces and throw it to the multiplayer community on a service like Live. You really want to push the release of the entire package because of a few lag issues? Give it a rest.
- Katana314, on 10/29/2007, -0/+1Using it since its inception? Maybe that's actually the PROBLEM; Steam is now FAR better than it used to be, not to mention free, whereas Live is making you pay for something that, in a manner of speaking, they're not the ones who give.
- icsbase, on 10/28/2007, -0/+1"2. EA was probably pressuring them to get the game out as soon as possible. Valve doesn't tend to put out buggy games."
What? Have you actually played any of the Valve's online multiplayer games? Counter-Strike Source was released more than 3 years ago and there are still many, many many bugs that have not been fixed. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.p ...
Also Team Fortress 2 has countless of bugs already. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.p ...
Some of these you encounter in everyday gameplay and they are very annoying. - rcomegys, on 10/28/2007, -0/+1Where was anyone mentioning originality?
- rcomegys, on 10/28/2007, -0/+1I enjoy being a spy, really balances things out. You still have to be good to be a good spy. Same goes with Demo. They really did a good job with balancing. n00bs suck at everything -- there's no one class that you can choose and pwn as.
- kevyn, on 10/29/2007, -0/+1i believe that was Christbait
- BearinG, on 10/28/2007, -0/+1That's great.
- phatcat77, on 10/28/2007, -0/+1Live is fundamentally flawed in that it uses P2P networking. Thats why you can only play up to 16 players, thats why theres inconsistent lag issues, thats why you cant pick your game type / map. And then they dare to charge you for it! What are you paying for? If Live changes this (and a few other aesthetic issues) it would probably be a better system than Steam is now.
- phatcat77, on 10/28/2007, -0/+1Oh how wrong you are. Your precious Live has only a few more years before it's completely outdated, if it inst already.
P2P = ***** gameing - Scrappy1850, on 10/28/2007, -0/+1i have a PC and i beat bioshock with the xbox 360 wireless on the PC. i kinda wish i could play orange box with rumble.
- Username314, on 10/28/2007, -0/+1What is this "306" you talk about?
- fixedcoma, on 10/28/2007, -1/+1Unfortunately i was bored with it!
- inactive, on 11/01/2007, -1/+1you're gay
