- Plinkyle, on 10/10/2007, -2/+107So a price drop on a 360, or a free gun if I own a PS2?! Sign me up!
- TwistableLime, on 10/10/2007, -3/+77I do prefer the 260 to my 360 I must admit.
- kuckle, on 10/10/2007, -14/+85Price-dropping for Madden?? peh. try ALL OF THE OTHER EPIC GAMES COMING OUT THIS YEAR
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+66I'm happy to see a price drop, but I do have to say that this particular one is a bit disappointing. 30 dollars off of the elite, especially. It's not like this is bad news by any means. Certainly not. But I think if a bigger price drop is going to be forgone instead for a small one like this, time and money would be better spent looking to improve the reliability of the hardware itself.
I know for me personally, a 30 dollar difference isn't going to sway my opinion into buying a console with a ridiculously high failure rate. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+47I actually scored an xbox 360 premium that was broken on eBay for 180 shipped and I just sent it to MSFT and will get it fixed...beat that!
- tatltat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+41That's actually a ***** brilliant idea.
- SfOwnsLa, on 10/10/2007, -4/+40Woah, I feel like a dumbass now.
- nreynolds, on 10/10/2007, -3/+37I don't think he meant Epic the company, he meant "EPIC" as in the big games coming out.
- thayle, on 10/10/2007, -2/+35I love how you thought it was the PS2 that was the type. It says Xbox "260"
- Hipple, on 10/10/2007, -5/+37This is shocking. I am flabbergasted.
- airwalkery2k, on 10/10/2007, -2/+31When you type in all caps it's hard to tell the difference between Epic and epic.
- zzt711, on 10/10/2007, -21/+42360 version runs at 60fps compared to PS3's 30fps to boot...
Ironic, figured the PS3's a "vastly more powerful machine"
lol - allenu, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23What typo? Wait, am I the only one who bought an Xbox 260?
- WhereAmI, on 10/10/2007, -5/+24omg...
- SfOwnsLa, on 10/10/2007, -17/+36If you include all the price drops 30, 50, and 20, it equals 100 bucks. Just like the PS3, yet its scattered.
- djphatjive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Who the hell cares about madden? Same *****, different year!
- Kaosu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Yeah I got a 3 Red lights premium 360 with Gears of War, Madden 07, Two wireless controllers, and two rechargeable battery packs for 225 shipped on Ebay. Same day it comes in the mail, Microsoft announces the new 3 year warrenty. Needless to say I've gotten back my xbox and I couldnt be happier.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19the ***** DS has Wi-Fi.
- GliTCH82, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18The Xbox 260... not quite as fun as the 360, I'll tell you what.
- sims, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14These price drops better come to Australia/New Zealand sometime soon.
- JoshuaH, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3F6olfXwCU
- ShaneS429, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Got to love Meijers and their special promos. 10% off for first time customer and 20% off promo this weekend plus the price drop gives me Xbox 360 Premium + Play and Charge Kit + 64MB Memory Card + Gears + Shadowrun all for around $403. :)
- panzergeist, on 10/10/2007, -6/+15You can thank/blame EA's laziness for that one. Unless you want to disagree with all the developers who do bother to get the PS3 to 60fps @ 1080p.
The PS3 is a lot different and more difficult to program for. That's its weakness hardware-wise, as both the GPU and CPU are more powerful than the 360's equivalents. Search my previous posts for the proof I already gave of this before. I'm not bothering to post it again for people who lack the ability to do their own research.
You know what, man? It's really OK that the more expensive system has better hardware. You're still getting all the games you want, right? Right. Now you can get back to trolling, I suppose. - SfOwnsLa, on 10/10/2007, -18/+27Of course cause I really really really really REALLY want the RRoD, I really want a device that has a 30% failure rate. Plus no support for HD Movies out of the box, OR Wi-Fi out of the box, the Wii has Wi-Fi...
- nickj6282, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Ok, did anyone else read the title and think that Microsoft was giving away firearms to PS2 owners?
- strictnein, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12I have a toaster. It can't run Linux. You know what it can do? Make toast!
- nipterink, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10you do realize that madden sells like hotcakes right?
- UncleCrapper, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Microsoft has just written off a billion dollars to adequately deal with 360 failures that are directly attributable to the red ring of death (general hardware failure), made important changes to the repair procedure for 360s that are in for repair to ensure the problem does not recur and modified the design of newly manufactured consoles to eliminate the point of failure. They've also extended the general warranty to one year. The hardware problems, at least as they pertain to the red ring of death, look to have been dealt with as best as possible.
While it all comes a bit late (and barring an expensive and possibly lawsuit inducing recall), it's about the best response you could hope for, all things considered. Now, if Microsoft would just acknowledge the issue with scratched game discs and ensure that all 360 DVD drives are equipped with laser assembly bumper pads... - acid0426, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Why do you want a memory card if you're getting a hard drive?
- timmyboywonder, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7What Kind of info do they ask when you call them ? Im thinking of doing it myself
- mxcl, on 10/10/2007, -1/+724fps is wildly considered acceptable for film, but not for interactive video games since you need a higer frame rate to be able to get acceptable feedback about your actions with even moderately fast sequences. Also 24fps often means directors cannot pan the camera very fast as this results in a jerky image, so they hate it. Because low frame rates suck.
- PunkRampant, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Haha, that was a terribly worded title.
- Shawn4168, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I love how you had a typo on the word "typo".
- ericrous, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Actually, the 360 GPU is superior to the PS3's. The PS3's big advantage is on the CPU side. Unfortunately, to really utilize the Cell, it has to be specifically developed for. Sony arrogantly presumed that developers would fall to their knees for the PS3 the same way they had for the PS2. So far it hasn't worked out that way at all.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+13I'm nearly tempted to block anyone who, even off-handedly, perpetuates such an ill-founded and DEBUNKED rumor.
- peacebyanymeans, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6The Halo edition 360 will have an HDMI port and a 20GB hard drive and will be $399 when it comes out. In fact, it says this in the article.
- mokkos, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Madden was the best selling game of 2006 by a large margin (6.5 M sold) over the 2nd best selling game of last year... Cars... (2.6 M sold)

Let's face it, Madden sells in very high volume. This is a good strategy for MS to attempting to take the Madden game market. - Dracusis, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7You failed economics didn't you...
- spoiled1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6because it dies before it can make a full circle.... makes it Xbox 270!
- daz80, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6not a significant price drop but great nonetheless. Its not like MS are going to slash 100 bucks or more off in one hit. Price drops are inevitable, too bad i bought my 360 a month ago. D'oh!
p.s. shaking my head at those who skip others comments and make a lame joke about the 260 typo and think theyre the first.... ^^ - MalDON, on 10/10/2007, -6/+11You're only harming yourself.
- BattleScars, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Except the thing is vomit green and has a shiny orange disk tray
- munkyxtc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5All you need is the serial number; as long as you are getting the RROD they'll fix it within 3 years of the manufacture date. I bought a core for $75 shipped on ebay and sent it in so I could have a system in another room so my SO could play Viva Pinata.
the earliest build date I've come across was like 5/2005 so any you buy at this point will be covered by warranty; no need to verify the date with the seller. Hope this helps. - neuropsychguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5From the warrantee site: "You must also:
1. Submit proof of purchase in the form of a bona fide, dated bill of sale, receipt, or invoice (or a copy) evidencing that your request for service is made within the Warranty Period." - spikes, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7So what does this mean for us Canadians? Are we going to see a price drop that coincides with the American dollar value with the new price? $499cad for a Premium is WAY too much, thats like $80 more than what you Americans pay.
- toxicityj, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4maybe he thought he meant other games made by Epic
- MalDON, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4They certainly should! Anyone who owns sony could use one.
- BattleScars, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4"The PS3 is a dependable hardware but has lesser games the 360 on the other hand have good games but the hardware isn't dependable."
The PS3 has killer games are on the way, so its status with games will improve. The 360's hardware cannot be upgraded without a full recall and Microsoft's 3 year warranty does not solve the issue in the slightest. The 360's hardware status will not improve because M$ are too proud to admit fault. - roxya, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6If you buy one of each, you've nothing to complain about!
- cplex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3LOL @ the RRoD at 1:03
