- Chrysalii, on 07/16/2009, -1/+12but don't let reality get in the way of your fantasy illusion world.
- RonADiSH, on 07/16/2009, -2/+11Yeah, over 80% of them
- MCA2142, on 07/16/2009, -4/+10This would be awesome for my HTPC running MCE.
- Nodaki, on 07/16/2009, -1/+6Terrible site with no information. Buried as blogospam.
- poracious, on 07/16/2009, -1/+6You WANT to do UML?
/boggle - Frostek, on 07/16/2009, -1/+6Citizen - you are under arrest for downloading Transformers 3 in two years time, and also for having the bad taste to download Transformers 3.
Remain where you are... - TobiasParker, on 07/16/2009, -8/+13I am really excited about this, it looks amazing compared to either Nintendo or Sony's motion peripherals.
Reserving judgement until release, but very excited. - RonniSR, on 07/16/2009, -0/+4Great *****! Does this mean that i can use my ***** as a joy-stick when i'm playing all the good old sex games on my commodore simulator ? :D
- Elranzer, on 07/16/2009, -2/+6Wouldn't this take away some of the thunder for it to arrive on the 360?
Sometimes I wonder if Natal is Microsoft's true next baby and the Xbox is just an after-thought. They don't care if you get it on Windows or 360, as long as you get Natal. Perhaps Natal itself is Microsoft's next-gen platform. - Myztry, on 07/16/2009, -1/+5So it can record people smudging your screen with their fingers...
- N01SE, on 07/16/2009, -0/+3I wouldn't praise something that hasn't even come out yet. Just because you watch a "vision video" (those videos show how they envision it working not how it works, I was amazed people thought that was real) and see it used successfully on a couple of games (which by the way showed a significant delay in the mocap) doesn't tell you anything about how well the technology is going to work in production.
You would probably have been one of those rich kids who got a power glove back in the 80s because it was cool, then realized you had just gotten ass-raped by Nintendo because it didn't work the way you thought it would work. Let's wait until the technology actually comes out before we talk about the merits of using it here or there or how it will pummel the competition and revolutionize gaming. - NinjaGod, on 07/16/2009, -2/+5lololol
- chingy1788, on 07/16/2009, -3/+5You're spose to take the 360 out of the box so it doesn't get caustrophobic and kill itself
- chingy1788, on 07/16/2009, -3/+5Yeah
Especially now that you can get a 360 cheaper than a Wii (In aus anyway) - handheldchimp, on 07/16/2009, -7/+9I think you are the one lacking sense...once Project Natal is released they will kick the ***** out of both Nintendo and Sony, as well make a *****-ton of money.
They are definitely going in the right direction. - dragonopolis, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2Great! now I don't have to buy an xbox 360 to take advantage of Natal. I'll just wait for the PC version.
- chooochooo, on 07/15/2009, -8/+10very cool
- felman87, on 07/16/2009, -8/+10Why do I need a full motion camera for my computer? I'm sitting down most of the time anyway.
- bubbakja, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2on a wall
- t0x2c, on 07/17/2009, -1/+3@NeoTechni: I dugg everyone else up in this thread, but I buried you because you don't know what you're talking about.
- NeoTechni, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2"I was amazed people thought that was real"
The peter molyneux vvideo specifically yeah.
Though I'm surprised no one paid attention to the videos of people actually using them. EVERY video showed it failing/losing sync with the player. That's not good enough to use as a controller. Even the best reviews say it only works 90% of the time. So 1 out of 10 commands wont work. Um. On a controller you do 10 inputs every other second - Elranzer, on 07/16/2009, -1/+3This thread is going to turn into an irrational Microsoft circle-jerk, isn't it?
- Philbert, on 07/16/2009, -2/+4That's awesome, I was already wondering if someone would be able to hack it to do mocap work, this will just make it easier. I also don't have to buy a 360 now.
- sildude, on 07/16/2009, -2/+4He's a troll. Read some of his other posts.
- dig1x, on 08/03/2009, -0/+1Do you *really* lack the imagination?
Windows 7 has full Multitouch support. Natal can track you in 3D space. It would be very simple to create a virtual touch screen.
Have you _not_ seen Minority Report?
I've been repeating this since Natal's first showing. Windows 7 (Surface runtime) + Natal == touchless motion controlled computer.
Imagine Natal plugged into your living room PC. Controlling Windows 7 on your flatscreen... - Philbert, on 08/03/2009, -0/+1I don't know why anyone would automatically expect that. No other game peripherals ship with an SDK.
- Elranzer, on 07/16/2009, -3/+4I wouldn't go that far.
- RonniSR, on 07/16/2009, -2/+3LOL yeah its Microsoft and somehow i think bill's bank account proves that he knows what he's been doing. And by the way windows 7 supports multi-touch so don't you think they will continue in that direction with Natal ?
You sound like a bitter fan boy who cant accept that MS actually also make some leet *****! - STARTSOMETHING, on 07/16/2009, -2/+3Uh oh, something new apple doesn't have.
- fuzzynyanko, on 10/16/2009, -0/+1Kinda. XInput was made for the 360 controller, and is part of DirectX
- bubbakja, on 07/16/2009, -4/+5I'm very really excited about applications for office and enterprise stuff. I want to do UML on a wall !
- MCA2142, on 07/16/2009, -2/+3MCE is what people usually call a Media Center system. Even though the term came from "Media Center Edition."
Currently, I'm running Windows 7's Media Center. Can't upgrade any further. - dig1x, on 08/03/2009, -0/+1According to Wikipedia:
Windows: 94%
Mac: < 5%
Linux: < 1%
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OS_market_share - t0x2c, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1Actually, over 80% of computer users use windows. I googled real fast and it turns out about 2/3 of the human race has access to a computer, so that puts our estimate at about 53% of all people use windows.
- t0x2c, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1XD
- NeoTechni, on 07/16/2009, -2/+3I hope this guy wasn't being serious.
Everyone who likes using their computer instead of spending half the time setting it up, uses windows - fuzzynyanko, on 10/16/2009, -0/+1This might be a smart idea. Sony likes stealing Microsoft's thunder a lot, so it's best to keep Natal's capabilities under wraps.
- dig1x, on 08/03/2009, -0/+1> was already wondering if someone would be able to hack it to do mocap work
There will be no "hacking". Expect Natal to ship with a SDK for Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Xbox 360.
Honestly, Natal is going to really bring a lot of sexy new stuff that we've not had before. - fuzzynyanko, on 10/16/2009, -0/+1One analyst said that he's expecting Natal to be $50
- AwesomeDeluxe, on 10/17/2009, -0/+1It will be, if it's successful. Sort of like the DS was a "third platform" until all of a sudden it wasn't.
- fuzzynyanko, on 10/16/2009, -0/+1Have you tried it with a tablet?
- the8thbit, on 07/16/2009, -2/+3Unless they're using Ubuntu, Mint, SUSE, Fedora, any other easy to use Linux distro, or OS X. (As terrible as OS X is in every other field.)
Seriously, have you used Mint lately? I had a harder time setting up Windows XP on my laptop than I did Mint 7. I had a ***** load of drivers I had to install, I had to install service pack 1 and 2, had to install Firefox and the Flash and Java plugins, had to get VLC player to play pretty much any video format. Mint 7 found all my hardware immediately, comes with pretty much every media codec you can think of, and comes with Firefox with flash and java already installed.
On top of that, the Mint install was a hell of a lot faster, and was entirely graphical. - t0x2c, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1reality? ***** that ***** im going back to my source code.
- fuzzynyanko, on 10/16/2009, -0/+1Believe it or not, some Sony fanboys will say that the Sony controllers are completely different from the Wiimote
- the8thbit, on 07/16/2009, -1/+1It'd be interesting to see Natal-like technology replace usb webcams and built in webcams, though.
- grantmoore3d, on 07/16/2009, -2/+2WELL BAM there it is
