- Vandalizer, on 05/07/2008, -3/+62Coming next week to the kiosks - GTAIV!!!
- dtreese, on 05/07/2008, -0/+44As a medical student aspiring to a career in pediatrics, I can assure you that these types of donations are indeed wonderful and useful. The children's hospital that my medical school is affiliated with has received similar donations of video gaming systems, and kids love them. For those who think that other, more useful things could be donated, consider that giving away manufactured product is actually pretty cheap/cost effective for a company. As for things going to people less fortunate, I understand that even the most basic health care in the US makes people more fortunate than those in other countries, but there is nothing wrong with donations inside the US. Most children's hospitals have a mix of insured and uninsured patients.
Either way, it's a pretty darn nice thing to see some normalcy returned to kids' lives when they have to live in isolation because the medicines we use to attempt to kill the cancer growing in them basically shut down their immune systems. When a child has been completely isolated from his or her family and spends most of the day dealing with physical therapy, chemo, scans, blood draws and IV changes, it's pretty cool to still have something they can do just like all the other kids. I find the chat aspect espsecially exciting, because some of the kids in isolation aren't even allowed to go use the computer rooms. I pray that none of you ever have to find out firsthand just how beneficial these types of donations can be to sick children and their families. - dreicher, on 05/07/2008, -5/+44I have finally confirmed my suspicion that 90% of Diggers are total douchebags. Jealous of sick and dying children because Microsoft isn't sending you a free 360 - your mom's must be so proud.
- XternalHD, on 05/07/2008, -2/+30What an array of stupid comments. Anyways, good job Microsoft.
- sUGArDawg, on 05/07/2008, -36/+58Red ring of...oh nevermind
- mediaphile, on 05/07/2008, -3/+24Don't let your ***** cynicism get in the way of realizing that the kids in that hospital don't care about that *****.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -10/+30Most depressing mic chats ever.
- HappyScrappy, on 05/07/2008, -3/+21I'm sure the achievement whoring will keep their minds off their ills.
- joemofo214, on 05/07/2008, -1/+18gates has always been one to donate, and im glad to see his influence on the company.
- Cenobia, on 05/07/2008, -0/+14Wtf are you talking about. Microsoft is being generous by donating stuff to sick children and you complain about how people are worse off. I guess we should just take the 360s back since your so unhappy about it. Microsoft has 360s, so they give some away. You expect them to give xbox's to starving children in Africa? Xbox's are not edible. Donate money to a real charity if you want to pretend to care. Meanwhile, get your head out of your ass.
I mean I'm all for hating Microsoft, but damn... - nickert0n, on 05/07/2008, -4/+17Dugg, you know all you apple fan boyz I dont see mac book airs being donated? Where your Steve Robs I mean Jobs?
- AlexanderZero, on 05/07/2008, -1/+13If you feel so bad about it why not form your own multi-billion dollar company and donate something for them? I don't understand why you're complaining about the fact that someone is being generous to the wrong people when there so many more people not being generous at all.
- Phasmorphage, on 05/07/2008, -0/+12Well someone is a Negative Nancy...
- RyanistheRyan, on 05/07/2008, -3/+14Death.... A 360 couldn't avoid it even in a hospital.
- Tyrghast, on 05/07/2008, -4/+15My 360 got the RROD, i mailed it in, got it back in about a week and it hasn't failed since then. That was june 07. You people are fixated on a problem that has been all but eradicated, just because it involves Microsoft, one of your companies it's 'cool to hate'. Just take a hit of this, chill the ***** out, and be glad that the kids can have some entertainment.
- VcTrMASO, on 05/07/2008, -0/+11They only have E-10 games only. No murder, just puppies.
- GeorgeStone2, on 05/07/2008, -0/+10"You're so riddled with cancer that you can't se over your chemo bag"
"Yeah, well so are you!"
"Oh yeah :/" - shirosamurai, on 05/07/2008, -2/+12*****... only a prick would complain about donations...
- NaziHatinChimp, on 05/07/2008, -4/+14I work with people who have autism. Maybe I can get them to donate a kiosk.
- ysss, on 05/07/2008, -0/+9This is definitely a win-win deal. A demo kiosk for the children to play with, and a marketing kiosk for MS to uh, do some marketing with..
- tnoy, on 05/07/2008, -0/+9Lets just forget about the MILLIONS of dollars Gates is giving to the kids that are dying in 3rd-world countries.
MS gives a few grand woth of kiosks, and you suddenly turn ignorant? Get a ***** life. - skeletorcares, on 05/07/2008, -10/+18Nothing better for dying kids then virtual-murder.
- tnoy, on 05/07/2008, -2/+10good for something like... playing games and bringing enjoyment?
- saintamour, on 05/07/2008, -3/+11Hmm, a certain sketch from Chappelle's Show comes to mind....."Pick up the sticks bitch"
- tnoy, on 05/07/2008, -2/+10At the end of the day a bunch of kids are going to have some fun. Who the ***** cares if a business benefits from it, or they do it for financial gain.
A comment like yours would hold a lot more water if Gates didnt still have the company wrapped around his finger. - mediaphile, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7Yeah, because of course you could never donate both Xbox360s to children in America and money and supplies to other countries at the same time. That would be impossible for a multi-billion dollar corporation to do.
And while we're at it, ***** PAX and Child's Play too for bringing a little joy into so many fortunate cancer ridden people's lives. - willaggs, on 05/07/2008, -1/+8How about you donate some money and supplies? No one should ever complain about donations.
- logan074, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7Bill Gates donates billions of dollars and you are giving him crap for giving sick kids video games?
- SwedishNinja, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gates_foundation
- mediaphile, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7Yeah, because all video games are about inflicting pain, especially E-10 games. Those are the worst.
- mediaphile, on 05/07/2008, -1/+7I can just imagine the *****-talking.
- zapa, on 05/07/2008, -2/+8Would be nice if it was world wide.
- jordyhoyt, on 05/07/2008, -2/+8and people donate millions to them each year, meanwhile millions of sick kids spend their (last?) days in a bland, boring hospital. they could definitely use some games to cheer them up.
- dudefaceguyman, on 05/07/2008, -0/+6Hospital life is horrible for a kid. Things like this make it slightly more bearable. You'd understand if you've ever experienced it or had a child stuck in hospitals all the time.
Eventually hospital life just saps their will to live. Stuff like this actually HELPS them live longer. It's wonderful that hospitals are trying to make the surroundings more comfortable for children. Personally I think it's equally important, as this helps kids with ALL medical problems resulting in staying in hospitals for long periods of time. - RyanistheRyan, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5I vote that they give them an All-Access Pass to downloadable material. There in a kiosk, so they won't buy anything anyway, so its not like they would be loosing profits.
- omnis, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5i look forward to a day when people's first thoughts aren't, "it's cool to be a doucebag."
- Juntistik, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5I hope those kiosks are wheelchair accessible...
- omnis, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5Oh yeah, it would be so much worse than the people already chatting online! (major sarcasm)
- GeorgeStone2, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4How are you getting dugg down?!?
Rain man, people. - logan074, on 05/07/2008, -1/+5So we can only donate to the absolute worse off people in the world?
- nienhulm, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4 I agree. I worked at St. Jude's Children's Research hospital a few years back and really think that they've got the right idea for a children's hospital. Everything was completely set up and designed for kids. All the waiting rooms were basically playrooms with plenty of toys and tv's and other such things. A lot of the kids there also rode around on little trikes (with their IV poles behind them!) They may be in a hospital, but its nice when said hospital is devoted to not only treating their diseases but also to treating them emotionally. It's hard to be "just a kid" in that situation and to have any sense of normalcy is a great boon. Kudos to microsoft.
- Tyrghast, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4I bet you have three ps3's...
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3Your a funny ***** arent you!
- nobelief, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3oh the ignorance
- Newedge14, on 05/07/2008, -2/+5I'm sure the Xbox 360's will make the kids think less about their stay and keep them distracted. Better to not think about your injuries and focus more on inflicting the virtual pain to the other kids your staying with I suppose
- tnoy, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4Wow. Do you try to be that ignorant, or does it just come naturally?
- Trilogy, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4Why not? Gates donates a ***** of money to charity already.
